Who has ever seen the Milky Way?

Saw reports of people seeing it around Dallas as well.

Stupid driveway lights are messing with my eyes and will with the camera as well. I need to get to a higher elevation to get a shot of the horizon, too many trees and hills, Plenty of photos not far from me though.

We drove out of the metro area to see what we could see - this was the best we got:

And this is what my sister saw from Alabama!

Definitely top 2 or 3 of the Auroras I have been lucky enough to witness.
Never seen them reach so far to the South. Here they went right over my head
and you get the Vortexing directly above, and then they streamed to the South.

Epic is an understatement. We only had a brief 1 hour window before the Cloud
Deck moved in and obscured them. I did get some Pics with a Camera on a
Tripod. My immediate thought today is I need a new camera. :knit

From my Front Yard.

Seen the northern lights and stars in northern Lapland, easily the most remote place I’ve ever been where it’s about 30 minutes drive to the nearest town. You don’t really see many people around, no light pollution at all. It’s also the quietest place I’ve ever been - it can be very still and in winter sometimes you just hear NOTHING.

The northern lights in the UK were pretty mad by comparison, usually in the Arctic I still need no light pollution, and your eyes to take some time to adjust to see them well. Last night it was instantly visible in towns and cities with some very vivid colours.
