Really curious, what 5 albums you guys would pick as your personal all-time favorite / most important / most influencial records.

I'll begin with mine...

1. Emperor - Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk
2. Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine
3. Paradise Lost - Icon
4. Tiamat - Wildhoney
5. Metallica - Master Of Puppets

Hmm... this probably changes day to day, but right now this is what I'm feeling (not in any order):
  1. Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
  2. Michael Jackson - Thriller
  3. Les Paul & Mary Ford - The Hit Makers
  4. Brad Paisley - Time Well Wasted
  5. Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons

That was really hard to narrow down to so few! And actually, I would say "all-time favorite", "most important", and "most influential" are probably 3 completely different lists for me!

Friday night in San Francisco; live w Al, Paco & John
Romantic Warrior, RTF
2112, Rush
The Planets by Gustav Holst
Peter and the Wolf, with Leonard Bernstein, and the New York Philharmonic

Honestly, I could do this all day…

My all time favorite albums, as of right now (aka desert island):
  1. Alice In Chains - Dirt
  2. Soundgarden - Superunknown
  3. Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
  4. Dance Gavin Dance - Downtown Battle Mountain 2
  5. Pinegrove - Cardinal

My all time most important albums, as of right now (aka Mount Rushmore +1):
  1. The Beatles - Abbey Road
  2. Led Zeppelin - IV
  3. Van Halen - I
  4. Michael Jackson - Thriller
  5. Nirvana - Nevermind

Almost forgot. Pat Metheny’s going home, live, first cut “Are You Going with Me”

Roland gr8 … used to have a solid patch for that on the AxeFx2. Should rebuild it.

Oof, that’s hard. Here’s the list for today:

Blackwater Park - Opeth
Fleet Foxes (1st album)
Wavering Radiant - ISIS
Lateralus - Tool
Diamond Life - Sade

Bonus: The Universe Smiles Upon You - Khruangbin

1. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
2. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
3. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
4. Black Sabbath - Sabotage
5. Black Sabbath - Sabotage

(After somewhere around my 20th ranking, my tastes are surprisingly eclectic.)

Wow thats a tough one because (and I was told this by a wise old Gypsy) I am a triple Gemini and thats why I change from day to day. I would normally say the first 5 Black Sabbath albums but I will put some variety in so as not to be boring..

1. Black Sabbath - Vol 4.
2. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
3. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
4. Al Dimeola - Elegant Gypsy
5. AC/DC - Powerage

5 Albums I could listen to the rest of my life if I only had 5 to listen to. No particular order.

Miles Davis ~~Kind Of Blue
Michael Schenker Group ~~ Assault Attack
Jeff Buckley ~~ Grace
Temple Of The Dog ~~ Temple Of The Dog
Van Halen ~~ Fair Warning

The Planets :chef

Now I'll have Jupiter in my head for the rest of the week

Primus - Frizzle Fry
Pearl Jam - Ten
Pink Floyd - DSotM
Supertramp - Breakfast in America
G. Love and Special Sauce - self titled

I like pretty much every song on all of these albums

...I may edit this later....

Dayuum that's tough a top 5, i have at least top 50
But

Van Halen Fair Warning/VH1
Frank Marino Live 79
Joe Satriani Crystal planet
Steve Vai Passion and Warfare
Metallica Master of Puppets

but easily can name so many more

Man, this is near impossible for me-

Floyd- PULSE
Steve Vai- Fire Garden
Alice In Chains- Dirt
Pantera- Official Live 101
Mastodon- Hushed And Grim

Really, I could put any album by any of those bands up there. Dream Theater’s Scenes From A Memory should probably be on that list because that album was HUGE for me when it came out. My best friend and I didn’t listen to ANYTHING else for 2 straight years, but the albums above had a bigger overall impact on me.
