What are you listening to right now ?

Man, I loved that band. They were so refreshing when they came out as Teenagers with the EP that
proceeded Mental Jewelry. Then Throwing Copper blew up and it was insane for them.

The whole East meets West spiritual vibe Ed had was really unique at the time. Jiddu Krishnamurti
and all that jive. It was refreshing back then, and not a cliche.

Pretty sure that is Jerry Harrison producing. You can hear the room, too. :chef

I think the early 90s is a great combination of old school and new school production before the
loudness wars killed all dynamics and everything got both recorded and mastered so fucking hot
all the time.

They did an episode of Unplugged and it really highlights how tight they were as a band at that time.

Now they are suing the fuck out of one another and the whole band has imploded. So sad. :(

Looks like the lawsuits chilled out in time for them to reunite for an Unplugged tour a couple months back. They were here but I didn’t go because as much as I love the shit out of those first couple albums, I didn’t want to see it Unplugged.

They still sound great, Ed’s voice hasn’t aged a single bit. Though they’ve got a 2nd drummer now, not sure why.

Wow! I am sure getting offers for $$$$$ magically makes the lawyers disappear. For now.

I saw them a few years back with Collective Soul when they reunited the 1st time. 2010 or s0?
Nothing about the show sticks out. They had a 2nd guitarist---think it was Ed's brother.:idk

The band also did an album with Kevin from Candlebox that was really fucking good!

It's like Live but with Candlebox Vox. :chef

I thought they were going to open with a Stones cover.

I wonder if the other drummer/musicians were the replacement "Live" and they
had to be included due to contractual obligations.

What a weird fucking situation. The most "spiritual" of all Alt-Rock bands is also one of the
most toxic and fucked up. Oh, I can smell the irony all the way over here. :rofl

And with the mention of Collective Soul and Candlebox; you have lost your musical soul brother for the day :barf:rofl

Haha! I have boundaries, dude!

The GBs were my "Do not pass Go and do not collect $200!" limit with
the band that had the killer vocalist from this past Summer. That and
Blink 182. :barf

I'll take Blink over "Shine" and "Far Behind" 397 days a week :rofl

GB and Matchbox 20 and The Goo-Goo Dolls :wat:wat:wat:wat:wat:wat:wat:wat all occupied the same mental space for me. As in "how can we be as boring and inoffensively musical as possible"

Been listening to these guys for almost 40 years now and still love them just as much now as I did as a kid.

MUUUUUUUUCH better! I listened to Dimension Hatross for the first time in who knows how long the other night. Great album :satan

The last part I am on board with. Even if I had to force-feed that shit to people over the years. I am so sorry for that.

Candlebox not so much. What a refreshing alternative to the dominant Grunge of the day. I love Grunge... but still.

Killer band with a killer vocalist. Shreddy/melodic leads on a Les Paul. Sign me up man! :chef

Funky 6/8 Time Signature. From Seattle. Thank you. :headbang

Yeah I never could do it with those guys. If anything; I latched on to other grunge-adjacent coatriders that tripped my trigger more instantly.

I also dug more 90s non-grunge one hit wonders (Urge Overkill, Everclear (who I should dislike but for whatever reason; their catchiness was right up my alley))

Underground 90s moody bands are definitely their own thing. I thought I posted this here before but who knows. Kind of an I don't know wtfwhat moody not grunge but hard rock in an artsy but not too artsy sort of way?

I still look back on that time and think about insanely diverse Popular Music was back then.

You legit had Nirvana and Queensryche on the charts at the same time. Next to Whitney, Firehouse,
Mariah, Garth Brooks, and Color Me Badd. WTF?!

Yes, it was better. Yes, I am old. Yes, it was still better.

I almost think people's minds were more open or something. Or was it the water?? :idk

I forgot Faith No More, Dr. Dre., NWA, Def Leppard, Black Crowes, Ice Cube, REM, Skid Row,
Guns N Roses, Van Halen (FUCK), Metallica (Black Album), and U2.

The sheer diversity of what was popular and topped the Charts is mind-boggling.

This video seems from quite a while ago. I think the shit has hit the fan again and the current
"Live" live experience is Ed with replacement musicians. They were here in Michigan last New
Year's Eve (with Tonic) and I looked into going, but passed when I found out the only original
member in the band was Ed. :idk
