What are we watching now?

Finished the two seasons of Interview With a Vampire. It's not quite "Tom Cruise chewing the scenery" like the movie, but still pretty good!

Finished up Landman for the season. I think it turned probably the best way it could given the wife/daughter drama overload of this season. Next year should be good!

Started S2 of The Pitt. Same deal; hour of the day per hour of the show. So far; so good. I forgot how gross it can get

Found out there is a new season of Primal out with an interesting way to bring it back around. Cautious but optimistic :satan

Watched 28 Days Later Bone Temple last night. VERY surprised. Had a ton of heart which I did not expect. Nor did I think I wanted it; yet by the end I was very please in the directions they took. Last one was campy and frenetic and good in it's own way but this one really nailed some great notes along the way.

Binged "11.22.63". Meh. I like period pieces. I got to look at a bunch of old cars and hear some dated idioms. Check and check. Not quite as much historical nuance as I was hoping for.

Time travel stuff is almost always stupid and this was no exception. Several references to "the butterfly effect" followed by characters implausibly trampling all over the past. And then a hamfisted ending that amounts to, "Everything is going to suck one way or another, so let's just unmake the entire plot", which... Yes, obviously, but what have you been doing with my past 8ish hours??

Watched first half of Running Man remake. Glen Powell could be good in things but this is not necessarily one of them. Edgar Wright touch is good for the film but the main character's angry man schtick is dumb and does not fit Powell whatsoever. Finishing up tonight because it's already paid for with my Peacock subscription but that's about it

I’m watching a documentary series on prime about dictators. Looking for management tips lol

I suggest the Empire Strikes Back...Nothing motivates your direct reports like watching their predecessor pay for their failures. "You are in command now, Admiral Piett"

Watching a show about the sinking and aftermath of the Titanic. "Women and children first" really makes no sense. Should be youngest families first.

Interestingly, it was never any kind of law. Just a custom that anyone could've pushed back against - and indeed they did. Quite a few of those oceanliner disasters resulted in the actual crew forcing their way onto the boats, leaving the passengers to fend for themselves.

The S.S Arctic is the one that springs to mind.

Yeah I'm sure it happens. It was stated that during the loading of the lifeboats, that was what they went by. My feeling is, people being loaded in any certain order, it's assumed some aren't going to make it, thus "women & children" are more important. But following that thinking means families get broken apart, leaving the more vulnerable of society (in general, but certainly at that time) to fend for themselves, without a husband.

Either way, I'd have been in the band, playing my set until the electricity failed anyway. :rofl

@mbenigni posted a Blue Velvet gif in the QC thread earlier and I remembered how great this movie is, it’s been years, I will be giving it a rewatch this weekend. Highly recommended if you like totally insane movies. Not recommended for the kids.

It's the Captain's call, really. If they say women and children first, that's what it means. Of course not everybody will respond the same in the heat of the moment.
