What are we watching now?

It’s like when you see the aftermath of a major car accident and you can’t look away.

I’m really looking forward to the box office numbers and how quickly it’s pulled from theaters and released on streaming services.
They might've been better off just going direct to blu ray, and selling it in the $5 bins at Walmart, as well as writing it off on their yearly taxes. What an abysmal shitload of diarrhea that no one asked for.

I care in so far as my kids have to be subjected to this bland, boring, mollycoddled, moribund, dogshit media that gets spoonfed to them. It aint all bad, but a heckuva lot of it is, enough for me to be weary and wary about the next big kids movie.

My kids are half English and half Japanese, and the cartoons and films and what not from Japan are infinitely more interesting, amusing, and diverse, than half of the turgid shit that Disney and other big corps churn out.

I don't care for myself. Couldn't give a fuck about Snow White or Lion King remakes. I've got the Lost Boys on DVD, I'm good.

Japanese and South Korean movies/TV shows are so much better than anything coming out of the US or the UK it's not even funny. It's rare I can guess what's going to happen next with Japanese or south Korean shows vs being able to plot out an entire Holywood movie from the first few mins.

Oh and Lost Boys :chef

There have always been excellent films coming out of South Korea. Though I did go to the movies Monday and watched the new Bong Joon Ho flick and other than Robert Pattinson's performance; it was some of the most absolute cringe crap I have seen.

Don't worry, they're getting around to those pesky, xenophobic Japanese folks soon enough. The enlightened and open minded white folks will be outraged on their behalf and show them how to properly do their culture.

/s

Dang thats a bummer, I've liked all his previous films and was looking forward to a new one

Yeah, nazi seems like a fitting pejorative." Where did you even come up with that?
Yes, the movie looks like more (and more and more) recycled, forced-progressive, focus-grouped-to-death crap. I get that. But I can also read between the lines. The extent to which this guy manages to be outright gleeful about a box office failure, for reasons ranging from "young woman acts like young woman" to "everyone knows dwarves are white IRL", is petty and vaguely repulsive.

tl;dr - "Nazi Roger Ebert" was hyperbole.

Memories of a Murder, The Host, Mother and Parasite were all awesome. I liked Snowpiercer. This had some good elements and the concept was cool. Pattinson was great. One particular actor was wayyyyyyyyy too on the nose and too on the nose with his feelings in real life to have any business portraying the character. And then you add animal cruelty to the mix and I was out.

This one's kind of left field, but maybe of interest to parents looking for family-friendly stuff? Watching "Anne With An E" on Netflix with my peeps, and it's excellent so far. (Apparently this first aired in 2017; I thought it was new LOL.) It's loosely based on the novel Anne of Green Gables (which, I should note, I've never read.)

Scenery and period detail are amazing. Some of the supporting actors, particularly a couple of the child actors, are bit wobbly, and it can be a little ham-fisted when it tries to deal with social issues. But these weaknesses only stand out because the performances of the lead actors are incredible. R.H. Thompson and Geraldine James in particular... just, wow.
