Our Max sub expired and I didn't re-up. So I am kind of forcibly keeping myself away

Rewatched this a few weeks ago. Definitely of its time. Great old action flick.Last night we watched Southern Comfort from 1981, by Walter Hill. I realized he's the early version of Tony Scott, where all the films are about groups of guys at the height of testosterone-fueled animosity, often in an awesome way. I don't like either Tony or Ridley Scott's tendency toward coldness in the overall feel of many of their films, and Ridley Scott can just be terrible overall, like he was with Hannibal or Gladiator. I really really like Walter Hill though, and this film was really interesting and very cool for many reasons. One thing that I thought was funny: he had both Fred Ward and Powers Boothe in it, two guys I used to confuse all the time! It was like when I saw Lance Henricksen and Scott Glenn together in The Right Stuff, two guys I also used to confuse haha!
This film was kind of like a reverse First Blood, where the rednecks are taking out the incompetent soldiers, and that was an interesting inverse. I thought the acting was really cool, and I loved seeing the full disdain every character felt for at least one other character. It was like a party of just sheer animosity that led to one stand off after another.

Just watched this, yesterday. Holy Fuck
Yeah well, when they let it get that bad, then adopt a zero-tolerance policy like they have, innocent people are also getting caught in their "net", and most people just shrug their shoulders to say, "The ends justify the means."It is amazing how quickly it changed the daily lives of the other 98% of the country for the better.

But if you're one of the innocent (and I'm sure it's not a huge %, but any amount is too many), you're just thrown in prison. It's a shame that it took getting as bad as it got, for any real changes to take place.
We had some small MS13 group in the county seat where I live, and the police chief nipped that shit in the bud.
Season 2 of The Rehearsal. Nathan Fielder is a twisted genius.
