I will say; Theo's podcasts (and I normally LOATHE podcasts) usually has great guests and despite how redneck airhead-y he can come off; he asks some great questions and the discussions are almost always funny. But yes to this generally speaking otherwise.

I'll watch occasionally if he has a guest I'm specifically interested on, the episode with Billy Strings is pretty good
 
Who can’t a get a laugh out of Meghan Markle’s podcasts?

What constitutes a podcast anyway? Live streaming by one person? A long-form interview? A panel discussing topics on a regular basis? Rhett Shull?

The talk show interview format seems to be dying, as do regular weekly-serial TV shows, old TV news media including cable and so forth. Something wil fill the void.

Being a jamband nerd I do occasionally enjoy Andy Frascos podcast depending on guest. His podcasts are certainly superior to his bands music :rofl
 
I listen to Podcasts while running, doing yard work, or while driving and I’m sick of listening to music.

I listen to mostly aerospace and guitar related shows, but occasionally dig a fun conspiracy theory or UFO/UAP/NHI show.
 
It’s possible I may just not have found the “right” podcasts yet (my desire to look isn’t that high either tho)

Despite my frequent and long winded posts on forums I’m actually a rather quiet and stoic person in real life and the typical trends I see in podcasts seem to be insufferable fluff. 3hrs of content for 45 minutes of meat just drives me insane :LOL:
 
I don't listen to (m)any but see highlights on YouTube.

There's also too much of them so people get fatigued and don't have the will to watch them all, same issue Marvel has.

I do feel Andor S2 seems like it just gets going at the end of the season. If it cost that much to make you have to question if it was worth it. It looks gorgeous but I think that story could be told with 10x smaller budget without losing anything.

I'm as big a Tolkien fan as there is, I was totally obsessed by the Hobbit then the trilogy when I was 17 (It was like a dream trip, helped being slightly stoned) & Peter King's productions of LOTR 1-3 were a dream come true (y)

Gave Rings Of Crap a chance in Season 1, couldn't believe what drek that was, totally skipped watching Season 2 ~ I could *never* imagine giving a (n) to any Tolkien interpretation, but Prime got mine.

I don’t know what Amazon paid the Tolkien Estate to use the material they do in the 2nd Age (which had no Hobbits mentioned) that they completely ignore anyway, but they didn’t seem to have much an idea of a story for any season, let alone 5 in a grand arc.

For a while, GoT was golden and brought the $$$, attention and accolades – until it didn’t. House of the Dragon seems to be going the way of Game of Thrones in Season 2, with GRRM not happy with the new material and some saying season 2 ended too early. Bezos wanted his own GoT (before the final 2 seasons I am guessing) so bought LotR and spent a fortune he can afford, relocated from New Zealand to England etc.

Historical and Medieval fantasy settings, Sci Fi and comic Superheroes don’t seem to excite or even interest the Producers, Directors, Writers and Rooms tasked with bringing the shows to people’s homes, hence leaks to the media such as “We want to make Sauron like Walter White or Tony Soprano.”

They are not creative enough for original material, and not wise enough to leave the source material alone.
 
Rewatched Overlord on Prime last night. WWII horror flick. I watched it when it came out and at the time thought it was a little too drawn out. Not sure what changed for me but this second time around it was great? Killer beginning sequence and great vibe and action overall.

Related rant:
Prime Video seems to be the WORST at this. We watch a TON of content with multiple dialects/spoken languages. They almost NEVER have English subs when the non-English characters are saying their lines. This drives me nuts. Overlord was a perfect example. They speak French and German in it but not once do they provide subs for those dialog sections :hmm You get all the subs on other platforms so why not on the one I watch the most stuff on?
 
Some of you would probably really enjoy Dean Delray's podcast, he's a comedian who was trying to make it as a musician before getting into comedy and the dude has some of the best interviews I've ever heard. He's got a good amount of gear knowledge across all the instruments and he's not afraid to get into details despite not being a podcast for musicians. Great list of guests and he asks some great questions due to his musical background and depth of knowledge on bands.

I still gotta catch up on this one-



Hahahhaha, it wasn't until you said it, @JiveTurkey, but I started watching a Garza podcast a few weeks ago, I think the Adam D episode where he actually is a huge Adam D fan and was falling over himself more than usual, it just highlighted everything you said and magnified it doublefold. Now I can't unhear it in every episode. :rofl

Whilst agreeing, I don't think it goes far enough. Many seem to actively despise the source material and audience which they are forced to work with. The companies that paid all that money for LotR and Star Wars are going to make something using the brand with whatever Directors, Producers, Actors etc that money can buy - even if the "creatives" don't like it much. Rene Zegler did not seem to like the role and character of Snow White. Peter Dinklage prevented any other "dwarves" from getting a rare job with one snobby, drunken comment on air.

Peter Jackson and almost the entire nation of New Zealand worked on a labour of love for years, appreciating the opportunity they had to make a timeless classic for the ages by adapting JRR Tolkein as best they could. But Simon Tolkein hated his grandpa's works and was miffed that they stuck as faithfuilly as they did to the source material. It wasn't ruined prior to that thanks to Christopher Tolkein.

People who don't like the source material, genre or audience making big budget "entertainment" seems to me to be a recipe for failure, artistically and commencially. The creatives don't want to make it and the audience don't want to watch it. Funny, that.

Yet we'll get season 3 The L:ast of Us and Rings of Power, the next Superhero disaster - Ironheart and/or Superman, Mandallorian and Grogu etc anyway. Repeated failure of monumental proportions never seems to dissuade them from their corporate-approved methods of "creation".
