What Amp Are You Playing Today?

Most of the time it's this little stack:

BluGuitar Mini-stack.jpg

BluGuitar Amp 1 Mercury Edition -> BluGuitar 1x12 Nanocab + 1x12 Fatcab. They have BluGuitar speakers that are kind of like a mix between Greenback and V30.
  • Fender-based Clean channel is set up so that it breaks up just slightly if you hit the strings hard.
  • Vintage channel does Plexi style things.
  • Classic channel is set up like a JCM800. Brighter, angrier than the Vintage.
  • Modern is kind of like a SLO.

My intention for tonight is to pull the Electra Dyne out and swap it with my EVH. No band practice until next week so I have some experimentation time, I want to try running the ED as a clean-ish pedal platform while using the FM9 for all the drives. Might be a good time to try using some amps as dirt pedals by disabling the cab/amp.

I don’t need the super tight aspects of the EVH for this band, boosted JCM800 territory will work just as well and might fill things out better.

Don’t you start with the ED. It’s at the top of my amp list and I’m not sure how I’ve avoided it for so long. The simul class stuff just feels so nice to play.

Your run of recent amp acquisitions has been nothing short of prolific.

I’ve been feeling out this early 70s Bassman 50 that’s actually an AB165/AA864 hybrid with a post phase inverter master volume after a visit to my tech.

It’s an amazing feeling and sounding amp that feels like the ultimate Fender meets Marshall Frankenstein.
