TGF Do Something Challenge Season 8 Week 1

#original

Wasn't sure I'd get in another track this week but here we go. Just a jam with myself and winging it. The hardest thing was remembering the changes so I could get the bass parts down. :rofl

Little bit of flange psychedelia thrown in for good measure. :grin

Here is my latest (as in yesterday Jan 14, 2025) rendition of "Life During Wartime". Just started playing this one about a month ago and I LOVE it! Of course, I say that about nearly every song I play, but it is true, I would not play them if I did not already love the song, but once I start playing some of them, it brings an even deeper love for the song in many cases. This is one of them!

One of my favorite songs of all time!

Soaring melodic stuff - so nice!
What makes that track funny to me is; I played the lead guitar track thru the SLO..

Real 80s-style tone.

Didn't come out sounding right in the mix. Since I record DI into Reaper, I just re-amped that track thru a pretty clean dialed-up JCM800, and the track "worked".. to my ears anyways.

Ya know, it's one of those things where it just effing sounded really great.

I'm blown away.

Tell you what, though, I'm usually an 'edge of breakup' guy (compared to you I should be forbidden to ever pick up a guitar), but today I was noodling around to get back into it and maybe because I'm listening to everyone here I got kinda gain-y, at least for me!

I started guitar with a '64 Fender Princeton and a '66 Gibson Melody Maker - trying to make sounds like VH, Aerosmith and Led Zep.

Played that clean rig for so long, wanting to hear a gainy tone.

Now I'm a gain junkie.

This song "House Of The Rising Sun" is as old as the hills! No known copyright on this song ;~)) Love doing this one!! As a former resident of the great city of New Orleans, it has special meaning for me and I am NOT heading back there to wear the ball and chain again (of the never ending party that is New Orleans)!!!
