Well that's the best on this clusterf**k

I've watched WAAAAYYYYYYYYYY too many videos on this subject in the past few days. A side note as well that I never knew there was such a market for elevator funk shred either ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I watched so many videos about a dude I'd never heard of I looked like this after I was done.

Fingers crossed in a week or two I'll have forgotten about him and when questioned won't be able to remember his name.

it seems to me that todays "people" doesnt really think about the term stealing.....

its more like this...

If you see something on social media and you feel "inspired" by it, its there for grabs and you take it, and do something with it. Its more common than we think. Its everywhere.

Imo... its stealing, plain and simple. Im just saying that todays young people dont see it that way.

it sucks either way....

i noticed a thing when i posted guitar selfies on IG, some got saved (you can see that your post is saved by other people, and how many). First you think that is charming like.... "ooooh they like my clip and look at it 20 times every day"

noooooope....

They save it for "inspiration purposes", or plain and simple "im gonna steal this and post it because i have more subs than this guy"

The two biggest surprises I’ve had since that first vid popped up-

“Who the fuck is this guy? Over a million followers and I’ve never even heard his name before”

then when reading the comments in HIS videos

“Oh wow, his fan base really seems to support his shitty behavior”

The amount of people arguing that the people who had their music stolen were lucky to have it stolen by someone so popular is just….I hadn’t realized humanity had gone quite that far in that direction.

I wonder how many of the supporters are paid for bots. There's a lot of them on YouTube.

I only watched Andy Wood's video on it, and I thought his take was very reasonable. In summary, he discussed 'being inspired by' vs outright lifting something and claiming as your own. Doing the former is something everyone does. Doing the latter can be extremely harmful, especially if that person is paying their bills playing their instrument.

I also understand different cultures treat IP very differently, with some not even recognizing that IP is a thing to protect. It's going to be tough to convince someone who has no frame of reference on why IP theft is wrong to stop doing it when they firmly believe there's no such thing as IP theft.

I also wonder how many people outraged by this grew up in the file sharing age, and illegally downloaded music. I am betting it's more than 1 person ;).

I looked at this similarly to certain pockets of GearTube, where if you’re having to crank out videos daily, inevitably there is nothing more to say or discuss, which is how you end up in an endless cycle of blind tests, unboxing, going back to amps, going back to modelers, 5 ways to lose weight, secrets of the pros etc. Like bro, you’ve made that video 47 times now.

So this dude is living in a world where Insta clips are his lifeblood, but the problem is nobody except Bach has written enough songs to regurgitate them daily/weekly for years, and he inevitably runs out of generic riffs and generic backing track scale runs, but… must… post… more… clips… need.. more… views…. and they need to be interesting enough to grow/sustain a career…. so, he starts coping other people’s ideas and stealing songs.

It’s a byproduct of the content generation game. He’s a piece of shit for sure. I don’t envy anyone in the new age guitar hustle.

Same take away here. And an instant reminder why I opted to ignore content creatures I mean creators, period.

It really goes back for me to the old Huge Racks forum days when some clown posted Rhode Island Shred by Guthrie as his.
Guys want to be adored without doing the ass in seat time, and can’t live with the fact that sucking needs to be embraced to get good.

More sheen than substance seems to be the motto.

And after that every one of those YouTube guys keeps failing bitterly Live. Nuff said

Yknow, that internal voice.... the internal critic.... the one I have calls me a c*nt constantly, and says I'm such a c*nt that I don't deserve a fanbase, I don't deserve listens, why bother putting anything out there, no-one cares anyway....

... and then slimey fucks like this guy get to steal and develop a huge cult following.

It just does not make fucking sense.

Damn, I always really liked that dude's vids. Had no idea he was ripping off all his licks lmao

I know he did a US tour recently too; wonder if he and his band were playing all lifted shit live?

It doesn’t. But what I got going for myself is that I’m an old fuck, that had more fun than these kids can even imagine.
So I get to be jaded. 😂
