For me; I just have to know my own "outs" that work for me. I know no matter what guitar I have GAS for; I will have to carve it up for gigging. So that cuts down really most any high dollar guitar because then it 100% has to be a keeper. That and price tags are very good at keeping guitar GAS at bay and staying in the window shopping phase almost exclusively.
It's kinda why I get grief for being a gearnut but the tale of receipts from this year shows me getting the LX, the VP4 and a couple of 112 cabinets. So despite how hyped up I get for new stuff; the actual purchases are fairly few and far between. I try to keep it that way but it can be tough sometimes. Oof.
Modelers are a little different story. Though I have went through every one I care to and am stuck on what I am stuck on till something new comes out from the same company. All bets are off with amps though
