maybe this as been already posted...anyway....pretty painful to listen to if you ask me.
You can take any of that bunch and compare live or NAMM jams to their hyper edited and mimed cheadeos on YT.Thanks for posting this. Since this whole thing broke, I've been really curious about his actual playing ability. He's basically an average play-at-home guitar player who faked his way into fame. You can see the light die in his eyes as he starts to realize he can't keep up. Absolutely incredible that this dude has a signature guitar. Even more incredible that his band opened for George Benson! I wonder what Benson thought of the guy.
Unfortunately, this has turned into a "how many followers do you have? game. In a way, I understand that, the mfgs didn't create social media, and those followers DO count for exposure, but alas, how good someone is, is now only a smaller part of the equation.Absolutely incredible that this dude has a signature guitar.
Look for the Ibanez NAMM with Polypia and Vai, and then compare to I Amex with Shawn Lane, Paul Gilbert etc
I'd like Sophie Lloyd up against me.I'm not sure I'd put Sophie LLoyd up against a Frank Gambale
The Satan neck tattoo is to hide the Adam's apple removal scar.
The two biggest surprises I’ve had since that first vid popped up-
“Who the fuck is this guy? Over a million followers and I’ve never even heard his name before”
then when reading the comments in HIS videos
“Oh wow, his fan base really seems to support his shitty behavior”
The amount of people arguing that the people who had their music stolen were lucky to have it stolen by someone so popular is just….I hadn’t realized humanity had gone quite that far in that direction.
When we all know Lars was only ruining Metallica.
Yeah I had seen one clip of his at NAMM not knowing who he is and filed it under comic releaseThe two biggest surprises I’ve had since that first vid popped up-

My hot take:
It's kinda hilarious to see the "fair use" crowd decry infringement of intellectual property.
Soo many youtube personalities have built their reach with "reaction videos" or "presenting" multitracks or "teaching" other people's music, it's not even funny.
Right, but don't you think the big difference is, those other vids you are talking about, clearly state what they are, while this asshat just posts music and doesn't give ANYONE credit? Like, you would NEVER know, and almost no one did know, that he wasn't playing HIS music, or even really playing at all.My hot take:

To answer your question: I think he is performing covers.Right, but don't you think the big difference is, those other vids you are talking about, clearly state what they are, while this asshat just posts music and doesn't give ANYONE credit? In a reaction vid, or like my own cover vids, usually the credited band/song name is posted in the title, or you're explaining what you're doing.
That's a lot different, methinks.
The answer is money… nobody worries if someone makes a buck of shit they made a cent off but when it becomes real numbers folks have an issue. To answer your question: I think he is performing covers.
And I honestly don't get what the problem is with performing covers on social media if all the other use cases are fine.
I've been schooled above that it's OK and best practice to just use any composition for youtube without asking and let the right holders and content ID sift out the unlicensed material.
How is this essentially different from that in any shape or form?
Perhaps I'm dense, but I don't see a meaningful difference, there.
And I'm not ever trying to be provocative.
