Modelling preferences and opinions

Sorry for going off topic here and I know this isn’t an original idea, but someone should make a third category of digital amp device. We have component modeling and we have captures, two different approaches to imitating the sound of a real amp. How about a platform that allows you to build your own virtual amp designs, dumbed down enough for a regular person to use. Mix and match different topologies, components, power supplies, tubes, tone stacks, etc. There could be presets or guidelines to achieve real world amp tones but the focus will not be on accuracy, it’s 100% about getting a sound you like. I would have a lot of fun with something like that.

You mean like Fractal, but dumbed down?

in 'the gear forum' you are going to get a much higher noise ratio of philistinism than you would in 'the science behind the modeling' forum.
So are you really seeking accurate discussion about accuracy? or just baiting those of us who are prone to glaze over the distinction between 'modeling' and 'modelers'?

We’re all master baiters here, for sure.

You mean- 1 signal into 2 amps, possibly different models/brands, or double tracked- play once thru an amp, then play again onto a separate track?
Nah, 2 performances hard panned left and right. Even when I’m able to get models or captures REALLY close the real amps just have a hair more width and liveliness to them

Could it be that in those 2 takes, the amps have 3 different mics, so a total of 6 tracks, maybe 1 or 2 with just a touch of some sort of modulation, etc., etc?

Iow, could it be simply down to the recording techniques used?

Oh shit. You're probably talking about your own. :sofa I'll see myself out.

Ha I usually just single mic, but I think it’s probably down to voltages and valves and temperature all being a bit inconsistent. It’s not like the digital ones sound bad at all, but you just get a bit more magic without having to think about that stuff with the real thing.
