Walrus releasing Mark II versions of their Mako line with OLED screens

Those seem pretty cool. The UX seems like it is pretty well thought out. Quick to use. That sound when he turns on the R1 at 10:45... very lovely!

I love the form factor and the fact that there is finally some high-gain options in a pedal of this size.
Having an all MAKO board with some MIDI-controllable drives (e.g. Strymon Riverside and/or Sunset) would be very cool but also cost more than an FM9 🤷‍♂️

The addition of the high gain options really had me sweating for a moment. Then I remembered FAS might be coming up with something, too, and I stopped the GAS from flaring up. But these look superb to me. Would have been cool to see the modulation pedal also getting new algorithms but hey, it’s great as is.

Absolute truth. I don’t know how good of a market single pedals are going to be in the near future as it seems most players have made the shift from pedals to modelers. It’s way more prevalent now than it was even 5 or 10 years ago.

I would guess that singles are probably still the majority of the pedal market.

I also think pedals and amp pedals are still the majority of use cases, at least with the “genres” I tend to be in (social media and all that) It’s 50% real amps and pedals, 40% pedals and amp pedal, 10% modeler only… typically…. A rough estimate.

Pedals seems never be “out”.

That modulation pedal sounds sweet.

I had the D1 back in the day and loved it.

I was just wondering, is burn-in still a problem with OLED screens? Had this problem with a Two Notes Cab M but fixed it by engaging the screen saver and letting it run for a long time.

In the demos on YT the screens seem to stay on on the MKII pedals.

It’s always a risk. But ideally they’d have the screen go dim or even off after a certain time. At least have the option to do so. I wouldn’t feel good about a display like those (very bright text light) staying static. I guess tweaking around a lot should lessen the burn in risk.

Haha… so happy I have an ACS1 mk1 :rofl
My point of getting it was to not have screens and shit.
