Wah (t's) Going On? A Thread Celebrating The OG Effects Pedal.

Good luck marketing a Michael Schenker signature wah. It'd basically be his favorite setting on the Dime wah (I believe that is the one he typically used) with a gear that is essentially disengaged, and the potentiometer doesn't move at all.

and being a very stupid man its helpful to not have the wah accidentally being on becoming a troubleshooting issue

So last night I finally wired up my newest pedalboard. I had a wah on it in place of a volume pedal, but decided to wire it in for now. Anyway, get everything done, plug it in crank it up, and everything sounds like crap. A disturbing amount of trouble shooting later, I realize the fucking wah is on. Grrrrrrrrr!

Haha! I've really grown to appreciate Wah Pedals that light up, for that exact reason.

The Petrucci Signature Wah has these blinding blue lights that let you know you
are in lift-off mode! :banana

The EVH wah has them as well. It is 2025. Dunlop should put them in all of the wahs, vintage cork sniffing purists and their complaints be damned.

Unless you do something unusual, adding an LED shouldn’t impact pure vintage tone at all. The biggest issue is finding a convenient place to mount it where it is also easily seen while in use.
