I got the easy ending in Silksong and now I'm working on getting to act 3. I believe I'll skip one alternate ending as it sounds like too much of a chore to get.

Overall it's a very good game if you can get past the occasional misery :rofl

Anyone playing expedition 33? I bought it for my girlfriend. She rates it at 7.5 a few hours into her playthrough.

I can, of course, google and get more opinions. But I also wonder what you guys think since this thread exists.

Do people exaggerate how good it is? I'm not super much into gaming right now, but I may find the will to start a playthrough myself.

I'm a big fan of the final fantasy 7 remakes. There's apparently similarities there. Pure turn based fighting is also cool, but I see expedition 33 has the dodging and parrying mechanics on top.

I'm a massive fan of elden ring and souls games, so I may enjoy the parrying stuff.

I just did the same. I was surprised how easy the final boss was, got it on my third try. The boss before took me over an hour. Both of those were really fun fights actually not nearly as frustrating as some of the others.

I’m going to have to unlock act 3 next…

Did you beat Groat? Holy crap that’s an awful boss and run to get there.

No contact damage made the final boss a lot easier.

I beat Groat last night. I got pretty good at the run back but I ended up cheesing the fight by staying in the water. I have no desire to git gud :rofl

I knew I shouldn't have bought Silksong right before Borderlands 4. I'll probably have to start all over whenever I circle back to it.

Oh I heard about that one. I tried a few times last night and I don't think I ever got too far. That's what I need to work on today.

I looked up how to get into the Putrified Ducts and got the wreath that gives you limited immunity from acid which helps on the run back so you can heal. I also read there's some kind of silk power that could help with all the enemies but I don't have it yet.

Did you get into BL4 or SS? I'll be picking BL4 up for the Switch 2 once it's released and I get tired of Silksong.

Borderlands 1 & 2 were some of my all time favorite games. Hundreds of hours into each of them. Gameplay and feedback loop just perfect. I liked the pre-sequel but only played it once, and then it took a couple years for me to get into Borderlands 3 but I beat it more recently.

Speaking of, Ghost if Yotei is killing it in reviews today.
Eurogamer gave it a 3/5 “meh”. It sounds very much like the first game, which was excellent of course, but with even more of a tendency to hold your hand. I might wait for an inevitable price drop down the road.

Meanwhile, PSA: Hades II is awesome. I’m completely hooked.

One of my favorite games! Quite the unique story

I got to act 3 and mayyybe I'll take a break from Silksong. I might come back to it later or not, but I think I got my money's worth.

I found the wreath by just exploring and it definitely makes bilewater a lot less painful. I mostly just pogoed off everything in bilewater and the gauntlet before the boss. I basically only used the Hunter crest oe whichever gives you the heavy downward slash.

The eurogamer review read like exactly what I don't like about games these days. The ghost of games look visually great, but I'm not wasting my time on another pretty looking game with "next go here and press X to win" gameplay :roflI want a bit of challenge and proper exploration. Or a really good Nintendo game.

Doesn't have to be as punishing as Silksong though :rofl

I think I need to explore crests more.

I've been using the Reaper crest ever since I got it because the pogo is way easier than Hunter (diagonal). But reading now other crests have faster attacks and more damage potential.

One thing that really helped me is using the blue power ups, the one that gives protection while healing and the one that does four healing instead of three. I'm able to more slowly attack bosses then get away and heal half my masks.

Reaper is what I meant! As I said I pretty much only used Reaper for the entire game apart from when you're forced to use something else. Tools and other items were crucial and you can get more slots in a certain place.[\SPOILER]

Loving BL4 right now. I bought Silksong the week before hoping I could finish it in time, but I only got as far as Sister Splinter.

Once I got BL4 it ended up on the back burner.

I really enjoyed GoT but I kind of had to shut my brain off and just take it for what it was. I was hoping they might make GoY a little bit more technical, perhaps with a Soulslike stamina-based combat system.

Ah well, I’m sure it’s a great game on its own merits and a huge audience will love it. (Who knows - maybe I’ll love it, too! I don’t really take Eurogamer reviews to be as authoritative as they were 10 or 15 years ago.)

I tried to play games like Horizon, but they're just so shallow. BOTW did open world properly IMO. Truly open, leaves it to the player to figure things out, subtle hints instead of arrows and map markers. Not afraid to let you stumble into the wrong place and die. Elden Ring is another open world done right of course.

Eurogamer reviews are definitely not what they used to be, but they're still the only reviews I actually read if I'm unsure about a game. Better than the brainless 10/10 dispensers

Finally beat Groat. Probably the worst run back in the game I've found yet.

I started messing around with different crests but ended up doing the side quest to get Longclaw because I couldn't hit him without getting hit myself. Then I tried a bunch of different crests and ended back up with the Reaper.

I ended up cheesing the boss by staying in the water. Got really lucky because he knocked me down to one mask right away but somehow I never got hit after that. I used those sticky spikes to hit him and then it was just cautiously doing one hit at a time between attacks.

Now I need to find all the rest of the fleas.
