Video Games

Okay I think I'm starting to get the hang of the game. I think I beat all the bosses before the final part of Act 1 and finally got my first weapon upgrade. I also unlocked several of the movements which now makes exploration far easier. There still seems like more to unlock though.

For the bosses it really is all about learning the patterns and executing. You just have to keep playing them and really focusing on figuring out the "tells". Once I recognized the movement pattern for wave 2 of this boss I got it in a few tries. Before that I was guessing and then I died almost immediately.

I have nearly 20 hours into Silksong and haven't completed Act 1...first playthrough of Hollow Knight I think I got 100% in about 20 hours. This game is definitely substantially bigger and I'm curious to see how Act 2 and 3 play out.
Im at 30 hours in on Hollow Knight and I still have a dreamer to beat/Hornet 2 lol 😂

Finally beat hornet, got all 3 dreamers - fighting a dude named Traitor Lord and keep dying but I’m close to beating him. I fully upgraded my nail. I don’t think I’m going to pursue 100%-ing this game because Silksong is calling me. I think after this boss I’m gonna go into the black egg temple and finish this shit

The Hollow Knight took me one try, very disappointing compared to every other boss in the game, I don’t think I beat any of the other bosses the first try

FINALLY beat Act 1. It took probably 50 tries to get that boss. I could not figure out the phase 2 patterns. Ugh.

Hopefully I can explore for an hour or two until the next horrible boss.

I'm still not there yet, I've been exploring the world after beating sister splinter.

I'm enjoying it! There's a very obvious from software influence here, but I think the game stands on it's own. Sometimes I think the developers must be assholes though :rofl

Act 2 is even harder than Act 1. Ugh. Honestly this game isn’t anywhere near as fun as the first. At no time in HK did I feel like the game was anything other than fun.

I have not gotten to the ramp up in difficulty, just met the map maker and I’m farming rosary beads to buy all her shit lol

The pain is coming.

The bosses are one thing, but I’m also amazed at how difficult the game manages to be just in the course of your walking around and looking for shit.

But for me the very worst of it all are the diagonal pogo puzzles. I’ve noticed I have a tendency to pull the stick down and slightly outward to the left when my intention is to pull down - we’re talking decades of muscle memory - and Silksong doesn’t want to know about anything that ain’t precisely 90 degrees. This is aside from the fact that it’s demanding 90 degrees to make Hornet go “sorta” 45 degrees, and that this must immediately precede a button press.

Ugh.

What are these diagonal pogo puzzles? I assume pogo means bouncing off things with the needle

Silksong looks and feels stellar, in a different way than Hollow Knight which had a very dark ominous vibe to it. I feel sluggish because I don’t have double jump or dash or anything so im anxious to get more abilities, but I’m taking my time. It helps a lot that I literally just came from playing endgame Hollow Knight to this, I want my ass to get kicked. I’ll report the first time that happens lol

All I see are lootsplosions when I close my eyes.

I haven't put this many hours into a game in a single sitting in years.

I just use the other moveset you can get early on and have found pogoing about to be fairly easy :rofl
Define “early on”, because I feel like I’ve been playing this fucking game for 40 years or thereabouts and it’s scarcely thrown me a bone. I just got a silk spool upgrade that’s made the game precisely 0.0000% more manageable.

Really, it’s a splendid game apart from the fact that it’s not any fun at all.
