Video Games

I picked Death Stranding 2 back up last night after probably 1.5-2 months away from it. When I last played I was just adding some time building roads and stocking up the facilities with metal/ceramics/resins while leaving the “bring supplies to the ship to fix it” mission hanging. I jumped right onto the mission and almost got my ass handed to me by the ghost mechs, if I had one less gun I was carrying I would have lost (right before Guitar Clown shows up and puts Sam in the eternal fire to die/repatriate repeatedly).

Glad I went that route with pausing the game where I did, now I’m fired up to get home and knock some more of it out. I could use a little break from sitting in my studio immediately after work and then again after the dog park and have just enough of the game left to provide that break.

I love it when I beat a terrible 2 phase boss but when you finally get past the 1st phase thinking you won and the game says “HA” it’s so defeating lol

If you think sideways platform games is hard today....

My teen gaming years was destroyed because... SNES Lion King... actually... the NES platformers were hard also... but Lion King.... damn
I broke two or three SNES controllers... I hated Disney after that. Couldnt watch anything Disney related for years. It messed me up. Didnt play platform action at all after that. Later i learned that Disney deliberately made the the game very.... cumbersome....
Nintendo certainly had a "longevity strategy" designing their games to be a challange... but LK kinda took that a notch to far.

This was back when games were actually 90 minutes long and they had to make them ultra hard to make them feel longer :rofl

That was one of my first video games and I never beat it. Lol I had it on SEGA, I was like 7 when I first started playing it

I think Nightreign's new Deep of the Night mode drops this evening; gonna have to assemble my crew for new punishment :love

Okay I think I'm starting to get the hang of the game. I think I beat all the bosses before the final part of Act 1 and finally got my first weapon upgrade. I also unlocked several of the movements which now makes exploration far easier. There still seems like more to unlock though.

For the bosses it really is all about learning the patterns and executing. You just have to keep playing them and really focusing on figuring out the "tells". Once I recognized the movement pattern for wave 2 of this boss I got it in a few tries. Before that I was guessing and then I died almost immediately.

I have nearly 20 hours into Silksong and haven't completed Act 1...first playthrough of Hollow Knight I think I got 100% in about 20 hours. This game is definitely substantially bigger and I'm curious to see how Act 2 and 3 play out.

Finished DS2 last night. That ending was a trip.

Overall, not as appealing as the first game and WAY easier. I checked multiple times to ensure I didn’t set the game to Easy because of this. Though, I did end up “Pretend You Won”’ing one battle with the Neil dude because after 20 minutes of him destroying me in seconds I got fed up. I dunno if my game was glitching out or what, but every time I’d start running something would stop me and he’d just rain bullets on me only for me to move right before 1 last shot took me out.

I guess the game seemed unbalanced; nothing ever really got harder, just stayed the same rate of difficulty regardless of the story ramping up. The first one had this issue as well, but all the world-building stuff should have more necessity in the game so it develops alongside the story. You would have to completely ignore the story missions for quite a while to get the world even to 90% and a lot of those Standard Orders are minimal in terms of game play.

That's my cue to not waste any more time with it LOL.
Turns out this shitshow of a boss is optional. And there's apparently a subreddit dedicated to how shitty it is. It's literally the worst boss design I've seen in forever. It's so bad that I'm surprised it got through testing
