Video Games

Well I don't regret buying DOOM one bit.

I do regret not booking a couple of days holidays though. :censored:

Continued Clair Obscur.

I added some mods that make the parry/dodge timing more lenient. To me the normal timing feels very demanding, and non-intuitive. Even after fighting many of the same enemies a lot, some of the timings feel like you need to be super precise to land them, and you have to ignore what is happening on screen because how your character is moving has no relevant to successful dodges.

The game has annoying difficulty spikes all over, where out of the blue they throw you an entire area where everything absolutely wrecks you, or a tough boss that is way harder than anything in the level preceding it.

It's also clear Maelle is the developers' favorite character because she has like 3x more outfit and hairstyle choices to choose from than any of the other main characters.

Started Doom: The Dark Ages. The new mechanics are fun, but it feels a bit odd compared to the previous games when your character controls more like a big hulking tank rather than flying all over the place.

The giant mech parts were unfortunately a bit disappointing. I hope they add more mechanics to those later in the game.

Was too hungover to play DOOM with any competence earlier so I started another save on the easiest setting and turned my own damage to 50% and the enemies' up to 1000%, and also the speed up to 150% and completely railroaded the game up to the point where I am on my hardest save.

It's its own kind of fun.

Balatro teleported me across the Atlantic - made a six hour flight feel like nothing.
Have to eat my words on this one. After bouncing off this game two or three times - and being characteristically vocal about it - I, too, got on a 6 hour flight and became hopelessly addicted. Here's the rub: I've remained addicted even after getting off the return flight, and now I can't get any sleep LOL. And something possessed me to bring the game to my wife's attention, and she's pretty much neutralized as well.

With the Switch 2 release date coming up, need to figure out if I want to pick one of those up or maybe a Steam Deck instead?

If you're looking for a deck building fix try out Monster Train 2.

One of those sequels that improves on the first in every way. Incredibly deep with tons of ways to play.

I think the Switch 2 is not worth it at this point. There's no real killer game out for it that you can't play on something else.

Most of the games we own for Switch 1 are Nintendo 1st party titles. I need a new Mario Odyssey or Zelda before I'm even halfway interested.

This. I’ll grab a Switch 2 when the next Zelda is released. Rumor has it that Nintendo is going to do a remake of Ocarina of Time. I guess we’ll see.

Nintendo's announced price hike certainly has the Net abuzz (or ablaze) and others following suit. I've never owned one.

And just as so many big $$$ games are failing badly. Really badly - so badly as to risk the company that made it, ala Ubisoft.

same here, enough graphics modding has been made to Ocarina now that Nintendo must do it, and its maybe THE best Zelda.

I loved BOTW and TOTK, but enhanced graphics on those "just because" is not enough for me to buy them again + a switch 2..... maybe... haha.
I like the graphics on those as they are, the low res kinda emphasizes the overall looks of the games. I prefered playing both handheld anyway.

My Switch has never left its dock. 😂 I heard that BOTW and TOTK are incredible on the Switch 2, but I dig the graphics as well as is. I’ve put so much time into the games, one-hundred-percenting both, so I doubt the improvements are enough to get me to play through both again.

Whatever they’re working on, I hope the next installment blows them out of the water. But we may be waiting a while.

I played ToTK entirely on PC with an emulator, at 4K 120 fps. The increased framerate was great, but the resolution didn't do that much.

To me Nintendo games are all about the game mechanics rather than visuals.

Wtf man :rofl The whole idea behind the switch is that you play before going to sleep, in the bed, avoiding any kind of bed talk from the wife so she can shut up roll her thumb on whatever social media feed. It’s a brilliant plan!

I think I heard somewhere that one must buy the new enhanced versions for switch 2. That the orginals is unchanged. I may have got all that wrong to.
