Video Games

Side note, what are those white silhouette looking dudes running around? I see them all the time, some even try to attack, but they apparently can’t hit me. Is that multiplayer dudes?

Yes. It's ghosts of other people playing at the same time as you.

You can also press Y over bloodstains and see how people died.

Okay I solved the big puzzle on the first try! That was incredibly satisfying and very cool. I had to get a big dry erase board with multiple marker colors lol

I really appreciate the creativity of this game and the primary mechanic is so unique!

You are making me get interested in playing it again. We shall see what this weekend brings. If I end up bored, I may fire it up.

Cooking with grease.

Realized I had enough runes to level up two points. Just dumped both to Vigor. Got me to 17. Figure I need to do Endurance next?

I am now generally speaking kicking camp soldier ass. (When I remember to use focus to attack)

Got the Lordsworns Greatsword, Flail, Whetstone knife, and some Ash of War Storm Stomp.

Questions:
  • The Lordsworn Super Duper sword requires two more strength point. Is that sword worth me pumping my strength points next or should I keep using the stock Longsword and dumping points to Vigor and Endurance?
  • If I die do I lose any of this shit on me, or should I have everything in my chest?

You have enough strength currently to use the Lordsworn Greatsword if you two-hand it

Give it a shot - equip it and it'll give you the message that you lack the stats and you'll see the little red X on the sword icon in the bottom left

Two-hand it and you'll see that red X disappear (two handing virtually doubles your Strength stat) and the sword will be perfectly usable

You don't lose anything by dying except your "runes held" and your Rune Arc (which you are not even using yet so no worries there)

I’m kind of worried about two handing something and not being able to hide behind a shield. :ROFLMAO:

It can be a little early to decide yet what stats you will want to focus on. Getting vigor up to 20 now is not a bad idea. Generally all normal swords and longswords are strength based. I think a first tarnished based on vigor and strength with support from endurance is a good first build.

Don't mind that. Get the biggest shield you can and turtle like you've never turtled before. In fact, get two shields and dual-wield.

I’ve killed those soldier bastards in the woods a thousand times now and then used grace to fast forward to morning and start all over again. Current stats:

But I have actually made some progress. I found a Vagabond guide online, which showed me where to get the Claymore. So I’m slanging big steel. According to that guide I need to be dual wielding that with the Longshanks Longsword I got from the soldier camp. I need to figure out how to survive without a shield.

But with my stats up some and with the Claymore I was finally able to slaughter the entire soldier base camp in one go.

Feeling ballsy I challenged the golden giant horsey dude, and got my ass properly handed to me. I was at the start somehow able to get to his side and do 20% damage, but then he started doing sumo jumps and shit, and his attacks were breaking down my shield posture. One day I’m killing that bastard.

But, I did kill my first non soldier dude. The pumpkin head guy guarding the storm hill bridge. I was able to beat him, then was disappointed he didn’t drop anything or give me big runes. I thought the achievement was big enough for the credits to roll or something. “My job is now done in this land”

I’m kind of at that weird spot where I don’t really know who I should or shouldn’t be beating. Like all these giant dudes seem like they’ll wreck me. I need to find the Land of Evenly Matched Foes. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, guide says I need to get the Eldtree talisman or some shit, so I’m going to try to do that today, and then hopefully add some more Endurance points. I had the fat bastard roll after getting the Claymore, but with some inventory management and removing my helmet, I was able to get back a somewhat quick roll. I think I need to spam some Endurance and start upgrading my Claymore.

I'd honestly just rock the Claymore on its own, or with a shield. It's easily one of the best weapons in every Souls game because it has a solid moveset with both swinging and stabbing attacks. It can carry it you all the way to the end if you feel like it.

You basically have to dodge his attacks, then take like one swing at most and dodge again. Shield will get broken immediately. I recommend trying to learn how to just move sideways instead of dodging everything because some attacks can be avoided by just moving left or right. It's easy to have the impulse to panic roll.

A lot of the big enemies can seem intimidating but many of them aren't that bad once you figure out their attacks. Mobs are often the worst.

Yeah more Endurance will help and if you have a lighter helmet you can put on, do so as even a shit tier one will be better than nothing as you get at least some damage reduction.

Been playing Red Dead Redemption since it got that nice patch on PS5 to bring it to 4k/60fps.
I never played this when it first released but I've always admired it from afar - I played RDR2 when that released so I at least want to see how the first game's story plays out. Admittedly I am rushing a little bit through the main missions because I'm just playing for that reason. I did a few of the more interesting stranger missions though.

Afterwards I'm gonna jump straight to RDR2 for my second proper play-through of that. I originally played it on the Xbox One S which is the "worst" version of the game, so I'm curious to see how the resolution bump looks on the PS4 Pro version (running on PS5 of course) vs the One S. I know that as soon as I finish this time around Rockstar will announce a next-gen remaster just to spite me. It's been long enough!

At start of december I finally caved in and bought Baldurs Gate 3. I love Larian games (DOS1+2) but BG3 is just too much and too big for me with a family. No game you can play for 15 mins ar a time.

That said I am like halfway and grinding away free time between diapers and stuff whenever I can to play. Often I leave the game open and play 10 min when I can.

Truly an amazing game.
I thought about checking this out, but I don't know if I can get into the turn based combat

The Tree Sentinel is kind of a more advanced boss that is probably better to come back to later. There are different theories as to why it was put there so early. It could be just to mess with people or to teach people to leave and come back later if you're not ready for something.

I decided early on that I preferred great swords and the Claymore is what I used for most of my play through. It will work better two handed, but you will have to practice dodge rolling and get the timing right. I did always keep a shield available that I could pull out for certain types of enemies or situations. Look up how to perform a guard counter with a shield. It can be really useful sometimes.

I agree with above. Use a shield for now. Two-handing and dual-wield is advanced shit.

I changed to a strength build earlier. Currently using a brick hammer.

And after a month or two break, back to Helldivers 2. There's a new baddie in town named "the Illuminate" (and they're alien / zombie - like).

So now we have bugs / bots / squids

Currently level 106

Alright grinded another session.

Nabbed the Erdtree’s Favor. That was tense. Do I have to “load” that thing somehow or does just having it in my inventory give me the benefits?

Farmed soldiers to boost my Claymore to +3 which apparently is as far as I can go at the blacksmith at Elleh.

Also boosted my Endurance one point. These upgrades are getting costly now, especially for someone that can’t beat anything to earn runes.

So I did some exploring:

Ended up triggering some portal to Evergoal and got raped by some semi fluorescent boss. I did get about half his health down. I might be able to get lucky and beat him with some practice. In the interim I hope he enjoys the runes I lost down there.

I fought one of the giants that like to hang down by the beach. Had that bastard about 75% dead before getting wasted.

In brighter news, I’ve been able to beat the two horse riders that patrol near the soldier camp. My horse fighting is slowly improving.

Otherwise I have no idea what I should be doing, so I’m riding around trying to find graces to at least open new travel portals. I found a place called Caled or something. Looked like insta death so I said nope after nabbing a grace.
