I'm frustratingly satisfied with my amp/guitar collection at the moment so I'm back on buying pedals instead

I want a Klon but there seems to be a million different options. My only experience is with a soul food and I hated that pedal

What are you guys liking?

My favorite is the rather boring Wampler Tumnus. The form factor and moderate price range are winners for me, second place would be the Decibelics which I think is just as good for a bit more money. The really cheap clones can sound good but I worry about quality in the long run, and I don't need the bigger enclosure clones taking up space if the Tumulus does what I want.

I love my Tumnus Germanium Deluxe. And I appreciate the EQ flexibility compared to many other Klones.

Lately I've been curious about the earliest versions of Ceriatone Centura, though.

Tumnus and Archer are the main two I've been looking at. There's like 5 different archer variations though?

Just go for a Tumnus or a RYRA Klone. Tumnus is probably the best on price and form factor if you like small pedals. Archers are fine and I'd probably go for the Ikon if I went with one of those. If you want the Klon look then grab a centura but they are really big.

Used tumnus is my top pick though.

Woah what’s up with the prices on Germanium Tumnus

How important is the germanium transistors for the “tru klon vibe” ? I see the archers use germanium

Not necessarily on a strict budget but not lookin to pay the germanium tumnus type price lol

i dunno. thats one of those pedals other people play, sound awesome, then i plug into their rig and think 'man, thst sounds horrible', and then they go 'wait... that sounds horrible', then plug their shit back in, and it sounds amazing again. i am klon resistant.

The regular tumnus uses schottky diodes which have a forward voltage drop around the same level as the germanium diodes in the Klon. I've switched schottkys out with germanium in some of my own Klones and as long as the schottkys and germaniums measure roughly the same I can't honestly tell much of a difference.

The big deal with the germanium tumnus was Brian claimed he'd found exactly the same diodes as used in the original klons. It's possible but there a lot of germanium diodes that look just like this so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The later batches are definitely using different germaniums. They look like the generic Chinese 1n34a you can still buy from tayda.

It doesn't really matter as long as they all measure in the right range. It's mostly just bragging rights and higher resale values.

I’m not opposed to that much coin on a pedal, but also I feel like I’d need to already know that I -really- like Klons before eclipsing $200 used

Good info Ty!! :love

Tummy’s deluxe looks cool, but honestly I feel like I’d rather “keep it simple stupid” and have less knobs on an OD pedal

I think I’m honing in on either plain ol’ tumnus or an ikon at this point.

I really loved the j rockett pedals I’ve owned in the past so I also feel like I have almost an immediate favorable bias towards them lol

This might help your quest .

I like the Warm Audio Centavo’s but the new Behringer is equally as good for a lot Les money..👍

You can’t tell in a video or even if you are not the player . The audience won’t know either.
But if’s just about your experience.
My favourite Klon is my Klon ( silver version).🤣
If I was buying a clone that gets close and I mean even in the things only the player can tell it’s definitely going to be the Centura. I have had four original Klons and a Centura together in my friends studio once and the difference between the Centura and mine was no more than mine and another real Klon. This is definitely not true with any other clone I have played with.

I only got in to Klons because of Jeff Beck .
I saw his rehearsal board and it was very simple .

He had the Archer Jeff on the main board because he thought someone would steal it when they went stupid price.
