Was running NAM into a demo of Valhalla Room and I absolutely loved the reverb.

Is the Valhalla series based on anything? Curious if there is a pedal that can get a similar result. I know it's just room reverb but to me it sounds awesome!

Great plugin, like all the Valhalla stuff.

The blog is a great read it your want to get some deeper insight into digital reverb history and the approach each plugin takes. Sean Costello is a well of knowledge.

Its generally a "modern" approach on natural/realistic reverbs. People often compared it to TC Verbs because its on the cleaner/more natural side of things, but it doesn't use ray tracing for early reflections like VSS3/4 do. Less about modulation, more about blending early reflections and late reverb tails. I think he mentioned Large Chamber was kind of inspired by a Bricasti but I'm guessing it goes about it in a different way (from memory the M7 is like a modern 480L).

Its pretty versatile, people have made Lexicon style stuff, and it also does weird FX verbs well too.

Thanks everyone! Figured there wasn't a straightforward "oh it's this pedal" but I'll give these videos a watch!

I'd love a hardware version of all the Valhalla plugins.
I've really enjoyed experimenting with making IRs of my favourite reverbs, and loading them into Dimehead's NAM Player .
About as close as you'll likely get to it until someone licenses the reverbs from Sean Costello.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say I did not like Valhalla enough to buy. I felt it sounded too metallic.

There’s all kinds of aspects of the designs of reverbs to mitigate metallic artefacts. His blog is a pretty great resource on dialling in reverbs so you can get what you want out of them. They’ll only sound metallic if they’re dialled in like that
