Valeton GP-5

Kinda cool to mess around with and you can't argue with what it can do for the money. I might start doing some FullRig captures more often because I guess that's the loophole to getting these working without the ability to load an IR.

Hopefully they see the demand of what a good NAM powered pedal can do and bring out a better featured one without compromise (48k, 1 or 2 NAM slots + IR + their existing FX). For now its like a downsampled fullrig capture only... still crazy at 80 quid.

I was thinking something similar but question how many units they would sell. I mean except a part of the people here who else would want it, since it would most likely cost more than the GP-5?

Yeah I mean they'll obviously sell a ton of these because its at a price where people will just roll the dice and be ok with whatever it does. There's going to be a portion of people buying this for capturing/NAM focused use first. I think after going through the process top to bottom and using it they will be disappointed at the conversion process (48k to 44.1 seems to take off the high end plus factor in whatever other downscaling effects happen in the general conversion process). I'm not saying all users... the general pedal enthusiast will probably be stoked to get anything and everything from T3K and move on with their life... but for the more nerdy type I can see them willing to pay 2-3x the price of this for a pedal running things natively at 48k with no conversion. $199/$299 is still peanuts for a pedal with all the features of the GP-5 + being able to load NAM captures + IR's

But again, the GP-5 $80 or whatever, thats absolute peanuts in the pedal world and they'll sell a ton of these.

Dunno. For me, at least on a live board, a ToneX pedal wins because the tone stack is always exposed. Something I use to adjust pretty often.
Yeah I was wondering if this would be worth trying but not sure what it would give me that my tonex original pedal can't really do already. I think it's the price making me think it's worth it...

The price point is pretty much unbeatable. But for me, it's still not attractive because of being forced to scroll through parameters even for the most simple operations such as dialing in a tone stack. And while there's an editor, that's of little use during, say, a soundcheck, let alone in those situations when I may notice my clean sound to be too harsh inmidst of a gig.

Believe me, I have been there. I went through great lengths to control almost my entire rig through a tablet using TouchOSC and a CME WIDI BT connection. It worked incredibly well but still, I stepped back from it for very good reasons, the most important one being that there's pretty much no way to adjust anything while a chord is ringing out when still holding your pick and what not. You have 2 seconds to accomplish the task.

Apart from that, that's a neat looking editor...

Yeah I wouldn’t be interested in the GP-5 if I had a Tonex One. And I wouldn’t use this on a board per se, just as the smallest grab and go practice solution when not near my amp and pedalboard. The Bluetooth audio option is one of the biggest selling points to me.

Could this be powered by the USB outlet of a smartphone or tablet? Because the ToneX One can do that - and it's been one of the most interesting things for me.
