TwoNotes GENOME!!!

Just downloaded. Not too deep into it yet, but I can say right off that the UI and visual design is absolutely gorgeous. They have individualized graphics for every type of gear. Not only that, the designs are both functional and beautiful. Color me very impressed on that front.

Proteus and AIDA are named alongside NAM, never heard of those... does anyone know how they compare to NAM?

AIDA I have tried once, but NAM is easier to deal with. Proteus is also similar and is developing a true capture of the full gain range of the gain knob IIRC.

In terms of accuracy. NAM is the better one (probably because it makes use of WaveNet). AIDA is also alright and runs on the Mod Dwarf stuff but lower quality models than NAM does. Proteus was the O.G. product that came out several years ago before NAM (Keith Bloemer - GuitarML on GitHub and YouTube) and also supported parametric models (albeit experimentally at that).

Well, as far as accurate tones, so far the artist tones are good but not great. The EVH and Eric Johnson ones specifically (I am extremely familiar with these tones), they feel more "inspired by" rather than actual recreations of those tones.

Tried to give it a spin but it just says "bad license file" if I try to login in the plugin and the offline license just crashes the plugin...so that's a great start.

Check your email , and /or try again. I got that whole deal too "Bad License Format" , etc and then emails started coming in and to be honest I think we tried to install it before it was ready to go. Also each time I clicked on a button it took awhile to get the 'result' so I was just ready to lose patience and then everything worked. Anyway, I just did the 'trial' (I think) on a MAC , and it ONLY appears as plugins. . .NO STANDALONE APP. . Not sure if that's right or not. .ha

  • The optimal range for the input signal is -18dB to -6dB. If after setting the Input Level Fader, the the source audio’s Input Level registers outside of the optimal range, reduce the volume of the source audio’s signal before it reaches GENOME either on your audio interface (when direct monitoring) or via the Digital Audio Workstation’s audio editing preferences, insert utility plugin or similar (during playback)

Welcome to the party @AmyTwonotes

Would it be possible to get more information on input levels rather just some 12dB range and guesswork. If I feed in a 1Vp (or 0.707V RMS) sine wave, what level should that appear as in Genome?

Another plugin that loads NAM profiles. Add it to TC and... NAM itself, of course (and maybe some more... Amperium, maybe?).

For me, the key is effects quality. And also the amp sims quality. Lately we're seeing what it was clear it was to happen... Profiling as a normal feature.

But modelling is evolving too. For me, now it's all about flexible profiling (liquid) and high quality modelling, plus high quality effects. Does this plugin deliver that? We'll see...

My guess after playing a bit would be +6db over Helix Native for calibrated inputs, but I might be wrong.

With as many companies that are going all in on AI models, the guy behind NAM sure deserves to be making tons of money off of it.

Genome looks really nice.

But no one here was on the beta? They opened it up to the public like... years ago now?

I didn't join the beta, because that'd be sketchy—sketchy like a top Fender executive lurking around the YGG Open House we had on Tuesday.
Had totally forgotten about the beta.
But just installed the actual release since i seem to own a metric boat load of cabs.

The basic components seem cool, haven't tried the amp models or nam integration yet.

I don’t even mean this in the cliched ‘tone is in the fingers, duh‘ way, but consider the two guitarists you named and their tones. That’s two of the most unique guitarists with two of the most unique tones to ever grace the the planet. By EJ’s own admission, he can’t even nail his own tones. :rofl The basis of his tone nerdery has been in pursuit of consistency and replicating it night after night.

I've thought about that a lot. I wonder how Steven feels. There are some really, really selfless people in the open source community, and even if they wouldn't ask for a dime, I still hope they see some kind of monetary return for their work as it's adopted by for-profit entities.

Haha that's a very fair point. I guess I've heard other modeling solutions that get much closer than what this feels like right off the bat. Although some of the presets are quite good. The Iron Maiden one felt great to me. I'm liking Genome overall so far.

Thanks, FYI the installation app hangs on a Mac M1 while trying to install just the AU version of the plugin.

Frankly .... looks amazing ..... major bummer that the Opus pedal is hardware designed to not handle any efx / pedals before the Amp .... Amy confirmed this at TOP.

Modelled Gain and Tone Stacks for specific amps is great ...... all the imported AI Captures ie: NAM are processed as "static" Captures given that's what they are ...... see the 3 min 41 sec mark of the "features" video in Post #7 above.

But yeah ....... Tonocracy ???? ... it was nice knowing you.

Actually given R.C has apparently bailed from Tonocracy / Atomic ... how long before he jumps on the Genome bandwagon :)
