top mounted jacks are dumb

That makes sense.

I have an Idiotbox Superfuzz that sounds AWESOME. Unfortunately though, it has top-mounted 1/4" jacks BUT the power jack is on the side.

They be trollin' fo sho! 🤷‍♂️
That type of crap is the stuff that really drives me crazy.....just, why?

insane that walrus decided on side mounted power on their “fundamental” pedals… still bought the Fundamental Ambient second hand because it was a steal for that kind of functionality… and it has fucking sliders :banana

Everyone together now:
“ABOMINATION”

I know real pedals generally sound better (maybe) and are a lot of fun, but going all-in on the Helix Floor as a complete pedalboard replacement really freed me of all these concerns. I used to near-constantly obsess about and reorganize my board, that stopped completely once I went with the Floor.

Anyway, carry on!

I don't mind top jacks, myself. +1 on the side power near the input/output jacks though, drove me nuts with my Keeley Fuzz Head and MXR CBMOD.

Nahh, they dont… maybe certain drives, preamps, fuzz etc. The Blackstone mosfet pedal comes to mind…

True. Same for me for a number of years. It’s amazing what they can do actually.

I’m only back into pedals because i got kinda burned out on digital/modeling. Everyone’s different, but it started positive for me then it slowly went downhill and I just couldn’t do it anymore. I’m starting over with some pedals I have and have plans for a few more. It’s about finding my way back to being creative and enjoy guitar playing again. :)

So if you buy 6 of these it comes out to just over $43. Thats just silly.

The problem with side mount is the amount of space it takes to unplug a cable when there's trouble.
I always leave the real estate and cable slack to repatch everything with pedals staying put.
With top mount pedals there's usually plenty of space to replace a faulty patch cable or to reseat a crusty connection, even on tight boards.
With most crammed boards I see theses day, you're SOL if you need to trouble shoot them on the fly if your side jack plugs are locked in by the neighboring pedals.
