top mounted jacks are dumb

I've wanted to build out an all-Boss small box enclosure board for years now. I think the Boss small pedal format (not the double wide or those new three-switch abominations they're making) are the most aesthetically pleasing enclosure. And Boss has pulled an absolutely monumental amount of function out of that enclosures over the past what? 40+ years? Crazy.

I think it'd be fun to "limit" the problem of building a gigging board to just those pedals. And interchangeability would be so high here.

Yeah I’ve actually been debating building an all Boss board to use with the JC:

SD1 > CE2 > DimC > DM2 > SDE3 > RV6

There is no company that makes a full board worth of stuff I’d be interested in. There isn’t even one that comes close really. I’m picky…

D
I think I could live with 2, Strymon and EAE, all I would need is about $4K!!! 🤣

That was my pedal setup before the Boss GX-700 came.

Except the DM2, that was not yet invented. But I had the Spectrum SP-1!!!

Anybody crazy enough to do bottom jacks yet?

There actually is! Our dear Cliff has it on the front burner, and it will be released soon

It will come in two versions: Discrete, and See-through.

I done it before! They even got a case with a pedalboard setup inside of it name of BCB-60. It gots all the input, send, return and output jacks built into the case. And all the power wiring built in that you can tuck away neatly in a raceway with a removable cover. Enough power cabling for 6 pedals + 1 tuner. I think they got a 3 pedal version for minimalists and 9 pedal and 12 pedal versions for all those mondo pedalboards I see on this forum and that other forum that we dare not speak of here. I did cheat a little and used a Korg tuner 'cause it fit in one of the recesses up top.

This is how it usually look, but I'm gonna try the all Boss setup now and see how much I like it.
I used that same Boss board for years. Never any issue except those 2 black case locks coming off now and then. But I'd just use a velco strap around the handle when transporting. Oh, and occasionally a belt around the whole case lol. Forgot about that.

I used to play at Healey's in Toronto back when Jeff was still alive and he'd sit in with us for a few songs every time we gigged there. His board was all Boss into the front of a cranked Twin and his tone was straight fire from the gods. I should meditate on that. And maybe practice more.

I love your all-Boss board. That's a great selection.

For me, I think it'd be:

BD-2w > FZ-1w > PH-3 > DM-2w > SDE-3 > RV-6

I could be pretty happy with those. Maybe I'd miss a wah and an auto-wah/mu-tron eventually? And the OC-3 pitch down? But I could get by.

Btw, has anyone ever looked at the GFI System Specular Tempus? It's got 2 connections on the "bottom" (or do you call it "front"?) side. That's got to be the single most stupid design decision ever, pretty much as if they wanted to win a golden raspberry award.
