You need at least 2 SuperSonics also..

I do love the Super Sonic combo! I had one about ten years ago. We went to the family ranch and set up underneath our rec area outside and that thing just sang. My bother played it and remarked that he’d never played an amp with so much feel before (he’s not primarily a guitarist). I wish I hadn’t sold it. I’d the prices today weren’t so crazy, I’d snag another, swap the speaker and be quite happy!

I got both for 750,- each, used…and they seem to go for that regularly..that’s not too crazy right?

I love m..deluxe vibe on the clean channel, great overdrive channel, and a loop…so a good pair with digital stuff. I got the big one weeks after the 22…found “my amp” ;)

Personally, I’d rather have a JTM45. :idk
JTM45s are awesome. It’s a popular mod to turn the Bassman bass channel into a JTM45, and mostly painless to do. Then you can use an AB box to channel switch between the Bassman clean and JTM45 sounds.

People do all kinds of crazy things to that bass channel. You can turn it into another Bassman normal channel, JTM45, Plexi, 800, or even a trainwreck.

Well dang that’s a great price used! I think I paid about $1K new in 2006 or so.

Neat! I didn’t know that at all… super cool.

I don’t have one but a band mate did and I always liked it. Great cleans, the drive seemed useful but he just used the clean channel as a pedal platform. Honestly felt like he underutilized that amp.

I didn’t either, at least until a couple weeks ago when I got a Bassman 50 unexpectedly. It’s at the tech now getting a checkup and I’m trying to decide which direction to go on that bass channel.

In my mind the drive channel can do a great dumblish thing, a good midrangish clean/edge obu, and a good rock sound. Probably not a match for high gain peeps.

@JiveTurkey please post a new topic so I can hijack that one also ;)

I have a friend who called up Jens Kruse and talked for a couple hours about modding an old Fender of some type for a Fender take on the brown sound. Long story short, Jens found him a 66 or 67 Bassman and pretty much did the works on it. Jose style mod, variac, and not sure what else. He lives about 4 hours away, so I haven’t heard it in person, but sounds killer in the videos he has done. Looking for a good excuse to go up and check it out in person.

Another friend here in town has a Bassman that he modded himself, with his take on the Jose mod. He said he changed where the circuit is, and made some other tweaks recently and got it just roaring. I’m hoping I can hear it in person soon.

When I had the Synergy setup, I snagged the module that has Deluxe for one channel and I loved it. Basically wanted either that or the Bassman module and flipped a coin to decide. I kind of want something nice for the light distortion amp, and really think an old Fender of some type would do better at that than my Mesa Mk IIC+, which isn’t bad when you set it for that. Something extra nice about those Fender sounds though.
