Is actually pretty damn cool!
Been taking on a few dep gigs and some more wedding/function stuff recently and while I famously much prefer amps, there’s been a few occasions where I need to go direct, playing on IEM’s with electric drums etc.
Got hold of a B-stock Nano Cortex as a possible solution and I’m pretty blown away by it. Genuinely think it’s better than the QC in a lot of ways and is a really useful piece of gear. Things I really like about it -
The form factor - absolutely tiny, can fit on a board with everything else no problem (and might mean the VP4 could be in my future yet again).
USB powered - pop it in your laptop bag and you’ve got a mini interface right with you.
The app - we all know connecting the QC to Wi-Fi is some sort of cruel and unusual punishment and you still can’t edit in real time without connecting to a computer. So how come the Nano app connects via Bluetooth every time and works like an absolute charm?
Capturing - actually really cool that you can capture in a few minutes on the device, Vs the tonex where you have to suffer the software, or the Kemper player where you simply can’t.
Unity gain and tone suck - most important to me, and I can’t really detect any issues here. I’ve tried downloading some drive captures and it works amazingly well with my amp. QC was awful in this regard.
I have to admit, a good pedalboard with effects, a couple of nice amps and the Nano as a Swiss Army knife to cover all the bases and I’m well sorted.
