The Importance of Hands

I’m not sure about you guys but I take extra care when grabbing something from a hot oven to protect my hands. Same with any other tool or object that might damage my hands. I think it would take a pretty careless person to risk their hands like that!

I never wear gloves when using tools, unless it's something I'd be doing outside with a shovel, burying bodies and stuff.
I always try to wear gloves when doing yard work but inevitably I’ll get lazy around my 3rd yard cleaning/mowing in the spring and then the blisters come, heal and toughen up and I no longer need them lol

Can confirm, having hands is nice!

I've been working with tools for about 45 years, many that cut wood in various ways, and never so much as a nick. I guess I'm just always conscientious and respectful of what they can do.

I did however slice my palm when I was a teen, pulling a utility knife towards my hand. I guess it was good I learned that lesson real early.

I'm pretty consistent with stretching my hands before playing too.

Also boys - protect your penis. I’ve taken a piss after pouring hot sauce all over my dinner only to burn the shit out of myself down there TOO many times.

I learned early on in life hands are like wearing white or beige / cream trousers Pants for those over the pond.
The more you try not to get stuff on them 😳The more marks you get.
So best not to bother .😳
Jeff Beck was always messing about with cars Old vans building engines and pulling them apart during his down time.
He didn’t worry about it.
I asked him about it once while he was under an old van ? and he said if you start thinking about it that’s when you hurt yourself..

I try to remember to hold my cigarette to the side when I'm taking a piss, so I don't let any ashes burn mah dick!

My dad said to me when I was pretty young, "No one ever thinks 'Today is going to be the day I lose a finger'" when he was showing me how to use a table saw and as soon as I got in the restaurant business and got my hands on some sharp AF kitchen knives it was something I reminded myself of every time I picked up a knife. Once I started in the trades I added "...the day I fall off a roof", "....the day I got bit by 240v", "....the day I fell down an elevator shaft", etc and my staff hears it nonstop.

I was a meat cutter for over 20 yrs. The first time using a bandsaw the guy training me said, "The saw never moves, only your hands do" and I remember it to this day
Great advice 👌
My mate got a job as an apprentice butcher at a Tesco supermarket back in 1972 First day was told to price up all the meat .
Beef was so much per pound He priced everything up at that price not per pound Lost his job next day .🤣

This thread has me thinking of all the other important body parts. Like the importance of knee caps. Or the importance of nostrils. Or the importance of nipples. Or the importance of butt cheeks. There’s just a whole list of important body parts that I think we all need to understand.
