Quite happy with this one, it’s actually taken from my grandmother’s one that is probably 25-30 years old. Seldom bloom but it’s rewarding to see when they do!

Big into plants

My ex had a house plant business and by extension so did I lol. At one point were running an actual brick and mortar rather than just doing markets/online sales but the store front only lasted about a year

I'm just happy I didn't manage to kill our plants when my spouse was in Japan. I have no green thumb.

We are currently growing a wide variety of chilies along with our collection of plants. Hopefully the chilies bear fruit in the summer.

I don’t really have a green thumb, but I do appreciate having live plants around the house. Currently nursing this neglected golden pothos back to health. It’s about ready to be repotted back into a hanging planter.

Hanging flower is cool… I’m dreaming about a certain type that I always see in old people’s houses :roflit’s thin long leaves and they shout out hanging roots that you can snip and plant, it’s like a never ending plant taking over your house

You can do that with a pothos and many “climbing” plants. A clipping will actually grow in a glass of water.

One of my favorites for easy propagations is monstera adansonii

Root incredibly quickly and rarely give an attitude when transferred to soil. We sold most of our stuff from wholesale greenhouses but adansoniis were like printing money lol. And they’ve got a unique freaky vibe

Oh yeah. Forgot to mention that pothos are poisonous to cats and dogs.

Yeah unfortunately a great deal of tropicals/aroids are toxic due to the calcium oxalate crystals. Fortunately none of my pets have any interest in munching on plants lol. but got pretty well versed in what was/wasnt pet safe for customers

Calathea, peperomia, spider plant, money tree, certain palms, Hoya, maranta/prayer plants are some good pet safe options tho

My personal favorite genus is probably alocasia but I don’t have any around at the moment. At one time had an absolutely bonkers variegated alocasia odora. That was a “one that got away” plant

Even Satan can't totally kill one of those. :satan

:rofl

I think I have pretty much lived in an home with one of those since childhood. Great plant
that thrives easily even if you neglect them---which we shouldn't.

"Spider Plant" is what I have heard them called. :idk

And yes, old people and plants? Is that us now? :stirthepot:clint

I really want to dedicate more of my yard---fuck you mowing!--to some perennial tall grasses,
raised beds, fruit trees, and flowers.

I am big on planting trees and seedlings are trying to block out the rest of the world as much
as I can with greenery! :banana

This is a favourite, we call them “elephant ears”. But it’s also the plant that has gave me most hard time managing… it seems to take forever if it doesn’t like a room or placement. Nothing happens. If moved somewhere else it can suddenly start to grow.

The Mother-in-law tongue (is the Swedish nickname for this plant)

Things got out of hand with this thing, but it always does. It’s an easy plant though.
I have four of these that originates from a big one (mama) that always shoot new ones. so it was time (as every year) to divide and plant and then give away.

Still… I think it’s funny that “mama” doesn’t shoot new ones… she’s just big and nothing happens. But the first ones I took from her, shoot like crazy… weird.

I took a bunch of cuttings from my mum's - who is well old - spider plant, which all grew into decent sized plants which then needed put into bigger pots, so I just stuck them all in one massive pot.
Now I have a giant spider plant, and very much feel like my best years are behind me.
