The Annual NAMM predictions rumours thread 2024

Is there [yet] even an alternative that isn't Class-D to the amazing Matrix Amplification GT1000 rack Amps (?)

And switches. And joystick. And USB port.

People I know (and myself) who have owned/ are owning a Helix Floor or LT have seen expression pedal issues, foot switch issues (double registering sometimes) etc. And for the HX Stomp, the knobs / encoders being weird etc. I just assume its just usual issues with electronics and wear and tear.

Cliff had nice things to say about the QSC GX series as well as the Hypex amplifiers. You may be able to rack the Hypex amp. I'm not sure. But it would look nice on top of a cabinet.

If Line 6 is coming up with whatever named Helix sucsessor, I'm wondering whether they'll finally come to the conclusion that using decent hardware would be a good idea. It'd be a first for them, but then, let's hope they're still willing to learn...
Compared to? My floor lived in rehearsal spaces and basement/bar stages for 5 years before I grabbed an LT for live use and never had an issue.

Oh yeah, I asked on the ToneTalk yesterday about the power amp he was working on for modelers, he said he’s not giving anything away yet but it’ll be mono and small, so I’m guessing he’s zoning in on that Duncan 170 area.

That is not what the world needs more of. :(

K. I think you woke up in 2024 on a different planet. But hey, whatever.

- Can't deal with phantom power.
- Worst visibility in its class (one of the reasons for me to sell it).
- Risk of blowing the mic preamp when switching phantom power on/off while mic is connected.
- Switches are just bad and plenty of people had to have them serviced (at a time, out of 6 Helix owners I know in pereon, all but one had to have the Helix sent in for some service).
- Joystick is a (nonsensical, btw) wobbly affair, breaking almost as often as the switches (at least in case you're using it often).
- At least on the HX Stomp, the "noses" of the USB socket seem to come off rather often.

And no, I'm not making any of these up. You will read tons of stories about just how great the Line 6 customer support is (which, fwiw, is only true in North America, in Europe it's downright horrible, a guy I know had to wait over two months and didn't get an overnight replacement, which is what some US folks are often talking about). And while their US customer support might be great, why do you even have to deal with it? Correct, because the units are breaking often.
