The Annual NAMM predictions rumours thread 2024

Well, I mean putting up a meme sign is probably smarter than just leaving the booth empty, since they probably can't get a refund. But let's not pretend that this was some kind of galaxy brain marketing move they planned in advance.

Then again, NDSP is talked about anyway. And there would be more talk if they'd shown even a controlled demo of Plini running on QC (since it's progressing super-well and coming out S O O N). Or if they had had Rabea and Plini performing a short set together on their booth. I don't believe for a second that they actually originally planned to do this. Something went tits up, and they came up with this.

Yes, I wasn't commenting on whether it was intentional or not. Just that we keep posting the pic and talking about it.

This is my point of confusion over the whole marketing aspect-

Outside of those of us on the internet who are aware of NDSP's "SOON" shenanigans, who is this marketing directed to? How does this lead to a positive thing for NDSP?

I mean an actual example of someone who is unaware or vaguely aware of NDSP, walking by that big ass SOON display, what does this do for them?

It could give an impression of "we have enough people interested in our product development that we had to provide this response in a fun, mysterious way."

(Fun being :farleyto us... :rofl)

Sure, that'd be quite a stunt. They could even just come up with a huge booth for the last day only. So when everybody is tired of everthing already, *BLAM-O!!!* there's NDSP to save your day with their incredible booth, top acts, first class cocktails and luxury food.
But for any of that to work out well, they'd have to have a product deserving it. Which is the most unlikely thing ever.
They could just show up with working plugin support (I'm told some people care about this) and a few new amp/ effect models, and it would be sufficient. Not that I even expect this much. I imagine they'll show up with a MacBook running a new plugin I don't intend to buy. :idk

The whole SOON thing is goofy, but benefit of the doubt suggests that they are poking fun at themselves as much as anything. We just collectively hate them and choose not to get the joke. Maybe?

Anyway, my QC is awesome, and a "DC" would be a nice way to split the difference vs. the madness of buying a second one. :)

Maybe it would make them curious enough to find out?

Then, again, let me point out the idiocy of “take a guess what we do!” at a trade show that’s literally there to show off what you do so people buy your shit.

The people there that buy stuff for retailers aren’t going to be walking around, pulling out there phones to look up “Gee, I wonder what NDSP is up to?” because they’re literally at the place where people spend bazillions of dollars to give the clearest presentation of what their products offer. You can barely get from one end of the place to the other without bumping into 500 people in normal conditions, never mind doing it with a phone in your hand trying to look up info.

I get the feeling this might be the case, but that it's possibly in a more artificial, "let's try and own all these development problems and try to make it fun, control the narrative, etc" way. But who knows. And again, here we all are, talking and speculating about it.

I don't "hate" them at all. I just happen to think that their entire business behaviour is laughable.

Sooo, do we think NDSP will put up their booth on the last day and announce the immediate release of PCOM™ so everyone gets to buy DLC for their premium modeler?
Unfortunately, yes. And that's the best case scenario, somehow. This is what actual Earth human customers have been rooting for since day 1. They made NDSP commit to it, got angry when NDSP dropped the ball, and are still clamoring for this opportunity to spend more of their own damned money.

I'm way too tightfisted to understand any of this.

So, NDSP being busy to secretly build their booth right now? Maybe it's just a stage that will rise up today...

It just occurred to me that I'm reading, and responding to this thread 3 days after the fact, and trying to predict "the future". :rofl

So... what actually happened?
What's channel 9 without Arsenio?
What's a fat man without food in his gut?
What's United Parcels without the deliverer?
What's a con artist if he doesn't have brains?
What's America without greed and glamour?
What is a compound without an element?
What's a weekend if you ain't knockin' boots?
What's oran juice and Doug-e-doug without Shaniqua?

(Time stamped):

Guys, there's no way in hell NAMM organizers would let you set up a boot after the event has started, with millions of dollars in stands and hardware laying around everywhere.

There were people speculating on their Discord at 5pm last night, “there’s still time for them to show up” :rofl

Th only people who go to NAMM on Sunday are the vendors who are tearing booths down or people who bought something and had to wait until Sunday to physically take it with them. Then maybe the 50 people who have never been to NAMM before and are learning for the first time that no one gives a shit about Sunday at NAMM.

WTF are you doing looking at their Discord?!?

[insert ain't got time for that gif here]

I pop in on occasion to see if they’ve said anything about the constant hardware issues their customers deal with and snap a few screenshots of all the “I had to send mine in for repairs, but don’t worry, support is great!” posts.

Bit of a dead horse in general, but if ya go back and find RevDrucifer’s initial posts on TGP (yes I’m referring to myself in the 3rd person)and why I was leery of them, it’s because I didn’t believe they had their shit together enough to offer customers a product worthy of the money they were asking. I’ve been collecting proof of that ever since that I’ll eventually put in a dropbox file and send off to KDH or whatever. :rofl

Technically, it didn’t start off that way, I just realized recently that all those screenshots weren’t getting deleted from my cloud even though I’d delete them from the devices.
