Yeah it was for me, and so became frustrating. If there's just one or two modules you're going to use and you buy a suitable chassis it works well, although a great power amp is still critical.

I think this often gets overlooked because 'the preamp is doing all the work'. More accurately, the preamp in modern amps is usually providing most of the distortion - just one component of the overall sound. The power section has an obvious and important tonal affect, and influences the feel and response significantly.

Yeah that's why I decided to not go the Synergy route. I knew I'd need at least two module slots because I knew I would get annoyed if I have to switch modules all the time.

It's best as a "build your own amp" system instead of "analog modeler".

2 modules still gets you 4 channels, which is why I went with the Syn 2. I find I don’t change the modules out often but it’s nice to have a few different sounds available and it’s just a quick 20 second swap to get to the next module.

That’s why I snagged the 50w head. Two channels of Killer Kali for my gain channels, one Fender Twin for cleans, and one Deluxe for the light gain stuff. I will probably get others at some point, but this and Axe-FX for the effects covers all my gigging needs pretty well.

Yep and if you snag two DRECT modules you basically have a 50w 4 channel Dual Rectifier. They don’t advertise this but with the gain rolled down low the vintage channel makes an excellent clean and the modern channel makes an excellent pushed clean. This gives you every mode from the Dual Rec except for Raw, and who uses Raw anyway?

Not surprised. Very cool unit and the concept is really neat but my Syn-20 was malfunctioning from new. The loop was broken and nothing in the way to exchange for a new one. I just sent it back.

The concept was great when Egnator came up with it, just as it was when Seymour Duncan had done it with the convertible.

Even when Randall had bought it it was cool.

As for BAD I said before I’m no fan.
One thing to keep that sour taste iirc the IR loader they put into their amps is also the one in the Fryette GPDI IR and that thing is about as bullet proof as a gym sock.

Literally every two days I got to power cycle the thing for it to come back to life.

Are you saying the Tremoverb blues mode is the same as the raw mode that came later on the 3 channel rectifiers?

I’ve never heard that before, just curious what your source is?

Gotcha, was genuinely curious as I could see a world where Mesa carried that blues mode forward as raw on the later revisions. I recall that mode being fairly popular with the tremoverb guys.

Yeah it always was on the Blues mode for me.

If you are at home or not moving the Synergy unit you don't need to screw it in, you can just pull and put the next one in and it will take you maybe 3 seconds. I have the Syn-20IR and if I had the 2 slot one I would for sure swap less often but flip stand by on and swap away.
