A user just posted this on the Synergy FB page. Something is up with their QC lately. It started with the Killer Kali and this is just leagues worse. Anyone have any insight as to what's happening with BAD/Synergy right now?

A lot of us had issues with the Killer Kali module as well. I have one, and it sounds amazing, but it's a really tight fit into my Syn 2 in a way none of the other modules I've owned or tried have been. Most fit in perfectly and it's no issue. With the KK, when I first installed it I didn't get sound out of it. Apparently you have to really push in the bottom of the faceplate to get it to snugly lock into place and it feels like it's scraping the top as it's inserted. It's a very tight fit and borderline unacceptable. I almost returned it but after hearing it, I love the sound so much I've learned to deal with it. Apparently my case was not unique either as many others have posted similar issues with the KK module.

So what's going on Synergy?

I really like the Synergy stuff. In fact I think one of the best analog cab direct outs is in their gear. Anyway I’ve had issues not as bad these but I did have noise issues and yes some modules not wanting to fit proper. I don’t buy their stuff anymore

I would’ve immediately put it back in the box and requested a return-exchange. IMO, that’s completely unacceptable.

The PCB looks like it’s being flexed. That can’t be good for the components and traces.
You're confusing mine with the one in the original image.

Probably a good thing that it wouldn't fit. The legs on the capacitors look like they're touching (or very close to) the base plate. I'll assume at least some of them are for the power supply.

While this is certainly unacceptable, this feels like a pretty easy “get a replacement and move on” moment. Unless there are truly some widespread QC issues at Synergy, chances of getting a second shit unit should be really, really low. I still won’t hesitate to get a TK module at some point.

Unfortunately, it might make me considering buying second-hand modules.

I wonder how that even happens. I guess it could bend if it doesn't go straight into the socket and you keep pushing because you can't see if it's slotted in?

Damn, no BizJargon Dueling Banjos?

(I like the corgi one. That took me a second.)

Hah, wonder if we'll get a BizJargon Lime Green Legacy model at some point.

I know I know, we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but come on the name has a nice ring to it. :D

You'd need experience with a very large sample size to make any claims about a decline in quality, but fwiw I had problems with 2 brand new modules (out of 6 or 7 purchased) a few years back.

Since sold all but one and don't miss the system - it's pretty clunky if you like to change things up regularly.

What other options are there for analog amps for changing things up regularly? It’s the part I miss most from the digital world. Short of Synergy and amp switches I don’t know of other options so it’s a real question not being a smart ass.

Based on their YouTube channel, the answer is just going to be: “simply own all the amps, bro.” 😎
