Suhr new SL68 & SL67 MkII

No loop, no thanks :crazy Seriously tho

The obvious way to go would be a line out box and a proper WDW rig.

As long as 98.99% of the work building up the circuit, be eyelets and/or turents, is done by human hands it will be considered hand wired.

And what is the obsession with it?

"If you own a 59 Les Paul and play it through a 67 turret board Marshall you will reach absolute Nirvana and start speaking to God."

I find it absolutely hilarious when PTP discussions come up and the reminder gets dropped that just about every freaking iconic amp made,
including post 73 JMPs, all JCMs, the Bogner Ecstasy, Soldano SLO, Boogie IIC+, blah blah blah, are ALL printed circuit board amplifiers.

:facepalm

And as for that final Nirvana most wont get there no matter how much they BS themself until they work on ears and hands…

I got the SL67 MK II a month now. What bothered me about the previous version was it had no bright cap.
Now it's got a 3-way bright switch. The Mid switches are cool to have as well. What I noticed was how good the Master Volume was.
I got the input volume at 8 and the MV at 9:00 and there is no degradation of the tone.
I put it thru a Power Station, for the Effects Loop. No attenuation. I don't hear any difference whether going thru the Power Station or bypassing it.
Whatever amp you're comparing it to, like a Friedman. Whole different sound.

It's not like you can't build a Plexi sounding amp with mostly preamp gain and an fx loop. Plenty of examples from various brands. But it won't be a traditional Plexi in the way the Suhr SL series aims to be.

While a master volume adds convenience to this amp, the lack of an fx loop due to the design of the Suhr is still a minus.

All these mod switches eventually end up in a single position you like and then never get touched.
You can build something that sounds like a plexi with a loop but the feel will be very different. There is certain feel that you get with a overdriven power section (mostly the PI tbh) that is hard to duplicate with a preamp.

But the tone is easier. Their PT100 amp can get close to the plexi tone on Channel 2 with the loop etc.

It would've been interesting if they could somehow incorporate their Reactive Load into an amp though. That would make it easier to slave it into another amp without external gear.

I get it, the “Plexi” raw & biting flavor of the vibe
is inherently designed to break-up giving up the goods from outside of the pre-amp section,
That tone doesn’t happen from keeping your
pre-amp gain at 10’oclock and the master volume set high..
It’s a ‘combinational kerrang’…
The benefits of this magic are not by playing unaccompanied, you get the harsher artifacts right to the face,
especially with single coils which sound super
killer in the mix.
The punch goes ‘ginormous with the kick/crash & bass root note..
A bit of tight rope walking in two ton shoes..this Plexi thang’.
Just go Marshall Major FTW.

Hey everyone. I'm new, So I hope it's okay to revive this somewhat old thread.
I'm really interested in the PPIMV design. It's supposedly the same design as in the new Friedman Plex. Can anyone tell exactly what's going on with the Masters technically? Anyone had a chance to open up one of these amps and take a look what is happening with the master volume and how it works?
Cheers!
