I agree with that. I currently own a Strymon Compadre, Riverside, Zelzah, Iridium, Nightsky and Volante. I don't have much experience with the older "Stryfecta."Axe3-wise... I genuinely think it goes toe-to-toe with the Timeline, Volante, and BigSky, which are the pedals I'm most familiar with from Strymon.
The difference with the Axe3 is, you have to turn about 5 or 6 different parameters.. whereas on the BigSky it's very often just tweaking the decay and tone and mix parameter, and you get something epic. But I'm willing to do the extra leg work with the Axe3.
I don't find there to be any massive difference in this regard with my Axe-Fx 3 vs Strymon pedalboard. Both are quiet. I use CIOKS DC7 + CIOKS 4 power supplies.One more thing about Helix and Axe3... compared to a board full of digital pedals, each with their own AD/DA noise floor that gets amplified higher and higher down the chain.... the Helix and Axe3 sound much nicer in terms of the raw guitar tone and noise floor.
Quite big differences when you run everything up front, Van Halen style. I did put together those stats from my other thread. Not using Strymon pedals, but the principle is the same. You get AD/DA noise and quantization noise from the 1st pedal. What I would really love is if Fractal commissioned a bunch of top notch sound designers to make block presets for their effects, and they included that with Axe Edit. That would go quite a long way to helping.If we take the Volante, the Multitap delay block on Fractal can do pretty much everything it does with just as good sound quality, but it is like pulling teeth to do it compared to Strymon's more curated user interface. It's just so much more complicated to operate the Fractal when especially the onboard UI for this block is laid out badly and even Axe-Edit has multiple pages to do the same things the Strymon front panel does with ease.
But I've gone the other way too. I like some of the Fractal reverbs so much I've tried to replicate them on my Nightsky, with pretty good but not identical results. So for sound quality, they are definitely neck and neck. Operation? Strymon by a mile.
That's why I've been hoping Fractal would do a "simplified" view for their effects, similar to how "authentic" simplifies working with the amp block. Often you want e.g modulation, but don't care about a full blown LFO to do it.

I think having a "basic" tab for each new type would be even better, both to make it easier to dial in and to give each type it's own "feel" like the drive or amp blocks do when editing from the authentic page.

You wouldn't notice it as much if you were running everything in the loop, but where's the rock n roll in that!?!
I'm a little bit fussy with noise floor. I'm trying to be better though, coz if you obsess about it, so much gear just goes straight into the bin tbh!!
I think they did that with some of their delay, reverb etc blocks where some of the "models" come from their beta testers, in house or artists.
