Hi!

After being unsatisfied due to the feel (not sound) of backline amps, I started bringing my 5 watt supro to bar gigs. It's not heavy but I practiced carrying it to a friend's home often so that I can get used to it.

I have been enjoying a combination of knobs on my strat, amp and sometimes an humble SD-1.

Thinking of selling my Charlie Brown pedal, I may list it on here. I am thinking of acquiring an inexpensive squier telecaster because I have always been smitten by them.

Nice! I got mean-mugged for not using a backline Twin at a gig last year, which I didn't really care about at the time but then afterwards I felt kind of bush league for not being able to show up and make it work. I will say, one thing that's kept me from really seeking out and investing in an amp that truly checks all (or most) of the boxes has been the idea that I don't want to be totally crippled if I had to use a backline amp that was totally different.

Some really good small time YTers use their Supros for gigs.
I liked the Helix model, but would prefer a princeton type headroom than a 5 W for my tastes.

What backline amps did you use often and what about the ‘ feel’ exactly didn’t jive with you?

Probably not the same model you'd want but I have a Jim Root Tele Squier and it's pretty damn impressive for what it is.

I've never done a gig without one of my amps and a backup just in case.

I've used everything from a heavy Super Reverb to a pretty lightweight Roland Cube 60 (once...never again).

Venues where I play (churches, ballrooms, etc., almost never have sound reinforcement that's ideal for amplifying guitar so I've just resigned myself to bringing an amp.

What's the kind of tone you go for with the Strat-SD1-Supro combination? Clips?

Are you using a smøl pedalboard for the TU and SD or are you a savage wiring them up in complete chaos on the floor?
