Not at all, that`s not what i meant. But if NDSP gives money to the maker of the amp(s) they model, that is a good thing. Is supporting L6 a bad thing tho?
I think you would agree?

What makes the Neural stuff a poor value is their lack of interoperability, IMO. You want me to buy yet another pack just to get this amp or effect? Fine. But at least let me use Henson’s effects with Trooch’s amps.Right, but that makes Helix exceptional value - not the rest of the market bad value.
Helix operates in competition with its HW, they wouldn’t really get away with selling the plugin for more than what it costs to buy an HX stomp. Line 6 broke out the models into individual products with bespoke GUI’s, combined amp channels into the same model and standalone operation for Metallurgy. All things users have asked for with Helix Native but it understandably isn’t possible and requires another product. For those kind of features, it costs more. It’s not a cash grab, it’s just more work and requires more support. They also have their own pro’s and con’s for the user, which they may deem worthwhile, or maybe not.
I think Helix Native is incredible value for money but I’m not going to expect everyone else to either release their take of the same product, or to lower their prices based on what Line 6 has chosen to sell it for. If everyone has to follow their pricing, the whole industry dies and we get no choice or new products/approaches. IMO basically EVERY amp sim is priced insanely low for what you get - they aren’t easy to make, they require support/maintenence, and they offer a ton of convenience.
I think it’s pretty cool being able to choose a few amps a la carte and pay essentially what it might cost to rent one of those amps for one day from a back line company. There’s so many talented developers across the board, I have no issue supporting as many as I can that are offering products that meet my needs.
There are EQ and compressor plugins out there that cost like $200 or more each. The amp sims are way better value IMO.
Gotcha! Yeah that is nice. Not sure it would be towards my priority list of reasons to purchase but an added plus for sureNot at all, that`s not what i meant. But if NDSP gives money to the maker of the amp(s) they model, that is a good thing.

I kind of disagree here - IMO the strength of these style of plugins is not being overwhelmed with options as it adds a ton of clutter. What makes the Neural stuff a poor value is their lack of interoperability, IMO. That’s where Amplitube shines.
YOU'RE WRONG!I kind of disagree here - IMO the strength of these style of plugins is not being overwhelmed with options as it adds a ton of clutter.
Helix pulls it off because it trims the visual fat in other ways. Amplitube/Amp Room etc don’t, and they’re slow and clunky to use.
Usually these companies will pair appropriate pedals and fx for most situations, for anything else you can just add another plugin for what you need. That’s what plugins are great for and designed for vs how hardware modellers work (where it’s all in one). I have certain spring/plate/digital reverb plugins, or tape delays or even cab IR loaders that I’d prefer to use, so I’d rather the plugins didn’t have too much getting in the way as i’ll likely add it with something else anyway.
The Softube sims are great and they’re basically just amp only, no frills, no clunk. I’d love to have the IK stuff broken into smaller plugins, Amplitube is so bloated from years of adding stuff (that i’ll never use) to it.
fwiw, the SLO100 is consistently my favorite model on every platform I’ve tried, so I’ll probably still try Neural’s. I’ve got to collect it everywhere.
It has improved! It's better but I can't say how accurate it is to a SLO 100 stillFunnily, the SLO-100 model was (last time i tried it) shit on the QC. Which is bananas, because Neural's SLO-100 is one of the best recreations of that amp i've ever tried.
I heard the model in the QC has improved on recent releases though.
Luckily I'm not in danger of experiencing it on the QC.Funnily, the SLO-100 model was (last time i tried it) shit on the QC. Which is bananas, because Neural's SLO-100 plugin is one of the best recreations of that amp i've ever tried.

sounds great here from JNC
sounds great here from JNC
They do sound quite similar! I was swapping between themSounds great indeed. Reminds me a lot (unsurprisingly) of the Morgan AC-30 in the FM3; i loved that model.
Well try the SW-50R model we have in the QCI wish the amp models in th QC sounded this good. There I said it
Yup! I was messing with it earlier today. It sounds good but even in the plugin I prefer the other 2 modelsWell try the SW-50R model we have in the QC
Captain 50 (Morgan® SW50®) You can turn MID down and see what happens, this amp loves exstreme settings
I love the PR-12 model. I tried to match it with the Fender Princeton, and got `close` but there was something in the low mids, mids that were a bit off. So I made some captures of the plugin, and now I have the amp in the QC. I mean how many sound does a single ch fender have, hahaYup! I was messing with it earlier today. It sounds good but even in the plugin I prefer the other 2 models
since you own both can you use the same setting in the Pete Thorn vid on the Captain Morgan Model in QC and get similar results?Circling back to the Morgan plugin. It sounds really good
I shall try this evening and post! But obviously I am very far from Pete Thorn levelsince you own both can you use the same setting in the Pete Thorn vid on the Captain Morgan Model in QC and get similar results?
