1. Yes. The Convolution spring in TMP is the same as the TM amps.

3. Yes and No.

The latest Axe-Fx III firmware has an excellent '63 spring reverb that will be ported to the FM-9 and VP-4 soon.
@metropolis_4, are you the guy who said he doesn't care for the Fender Tre-Verb? And have you ruled out pedals with mechanical springs in them?
I think @Boudoir Guitar had one and was not impressed? That wasn’t me, I’ve never tried the Tre-Verb. How is it?
I keep playing with the idea of getting a SurfyBear but the size and power requirements always hold me back… maybe I’ll have to bite that bullet one of these days
Not had the Surfy Bear - I think it’d be great.I think @Boudoir Guitar had one and was not impressed?
With pedals the three that seem to rise to the top in online discussions are the Topanga, True Spring, and Oceans 11.
I almost bought an Oceans 11 but then I read some complaints about digital artifacts in the tail. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the True Spring.
I might have to pick one up and try for myself… or I’ll just buy another TMP
Spring verb is too personal and subjective IMO. You have to try it for yourself. One persons favorite that “nails it” is completely unusable in another person’s opinion. Of course you could say that about most things effects and modelers, but it seems more pronounced with the spring verbs.
I find the public FM9 FW (prior to most recent updates) close enough to my Ventris that I don’t bother using the Ventris outboard although it isn’t quite as nice if you crank it and listen closely to the tail. The Ventris I’ve compared directly to an old fender amp and it was the only thing I thought was there. I don’t have an outboard fender unit to compare directly to, but it held up well against the clips I dialed it in against for a fender outboard tank and a surfybear.
The oceans 11 to my ears sounded like the low rent version, that’s just how I hear it. It doesn’t have what I’m looking for. Don’t remember much about the topanga.
I’m looking forward to checking out the new stuff when it’s ready for FM9.
D

Thanks for the info! Depending on how things go I might have to pick up a True Spring to try for myself.
Either that or I’ll become the weirdo running a 6G15 in front of a modeler![]()
Tube reverbs are so cool. Some time back I heard an older guitarist play, who had bought his vintage amp with him. Had a reverb tank. When I enquired, he told me it had tubes in it. He sounded so beautiful.

I love the Tre-Verb, personally, but agree with the preceding posts saying reverb is very subjective. The Tre-Verb is relatively big and expensive. I wound up with a True Spring, and I love it, but it doesn't really do the the "drip" thing - even in modes with names like "Drip King", etc. That wasn’t me, I’ve never tried the Tre-Verb. How is it?

Yeah, tube driven reverb is![]()
