So, about that Fender spring reverb…

Shower thoughts-

“I don’t really use a ton of reverb, but I’m definitely picky about it when I do use it. I’d probably be fine with one good spring and a couple plates of various sizes……I definitely want all the badass ones in the Fractal, cuz some day I might find a use for them outside of getting baked and listening to delay/reverb trails sounding all pretty”

While not a productive shower thought process, I had to chuckle that this was on my mind instead of creating inaccurate narratives for how my day was going to go, which is the usual process. :rofl

Bummer…

The gear world just keeps pushing me back to the TMP
I still think it's worth hearing the Tre-Verb for yourself. At retail, $300 is a significant percentage of just going back to TMP, but you can find them used for around $150. Maybe test drive a new one, and if it works for you, start bottom-feeding?

I would also reiterate that the SA True Spring is a really nice sounding reverb. Very dimensional and shimmery. With reverb and trem engaged it will almost stand in for a rotary sim. It just doesn't do the "who kicked my amp?" thing when you pick really hard. (Which, if we're being honest, is of little practical use outside surf rock, except for purposes of showing off how clever your reverb pedal is.)

P.S. Having said all that, I really want to hear this White Whale pedal.

Surfybear Compact Deluxe accepts 9-12V at any polarity + it has a tremolo, so maybe the size would be more acceptable for you, since it's a double pedal? ;)

That being said, I have powered both the Surfybear Metal and Compact with the cheapest of the cheap Mosky iso-10 power supply with no problems whatsoever. If you have a supply that provides 500ma at 12V it should be fine as long as you use a polarity converter. I prefer the Compact due to it's smaller size and two footswitchable mixer settings.

I’ll have to take a closer look, maybe it wouldn’t be as crazy as I’m thinking to power one on a board

Say Met is this any good ? have you looked at this?

Isn't the Boss FRV-1 supposed to be like the 6G15 ?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The FRV-1 is really showing its age, I wish they would do a modern updated version of that.

The True Spring I was hopeful about, but I’m hearing really mixed reviews.

It has to drip. That part is non-negotiable

Yeah, if I had that on my board there would definitely be at least 2-3 pedals velcro’d to the top of it!
It would be ideal if the potentiometers and jacks were near the back of the enclosure, instead of the front.

Then again... wouldn't you get spring noise whenever you stomped on one of those pedals? Like, whether you wanted it or not? Never mind - covered in the video.

The Surfybear Metal can be a pedal board ?

I know everyone is joking when they say that its so big that you can place pedals on top of it.

But won't direct contact and cables on top of the surfybear (unlike power supplies which are mounted under a board), induce hum and unwanted noise in the signal chain?

Reverb tanks can pickup noise if they are too close to e.g amp transformers. Cables and pedals shouldn't be an issue.
