Rumor mill: John Mayer plugin coming soon?

the individual amps all have their own cabs, which is more flexible, but you have to use 3 different instances -
my point was they could have done that in the plugin, but 'eh'
They could.
But I like it summed into one cab. And for that to do it you’d need 3 plugs if just the amps into a bus with the cab.

Point is that if I need to run 3 or 4 plugs for a single guitar track it gets outta hand real fast.

If Mayer is blending his amps that way it makes sense for his plugin to have that same approach. Would be kind of bad to do it the traditional way then put out videos showing how to blend things in a DAW... why? Just do the plugin the way he does it. As far as I can see you can still use them individually with no blending so not sure what the downside is here.

I'm sure the vast majority of people will be happy and see the positives of it, and would be buying it for 'his tones' anyway.
The preset culture of the youth of today are going to be just fine. My point was it'd be nice to have control of the amps when in that blend mode, but unfortunately it doesn't allow for that... which to me is a bit of a buzzkill.

Eh, if it was signed off by Mayer and its his sig plugin then it gets you the mayer tones. No other NDSP plugin has blends like it so you'd have to break it out and blend anyway. It's almost like giving the ability to blend things is now bad because it doesn't do ultimate 3 amp blending, it only has blending the way the artist uses it.

I understand the point but there's tradeoffs with everything. I'm unenthused by this plugin but the blending modes isnt the reason :rofl

eh? it's definitely a majorly cool feature, but the fact it's so limited is weird af especially considering how prolific John Mayer is about his gear. . .
like... I'm almost wondering why he didn't think that's weird and ask them to add it in.

I'm still not used to this culture of 'presets', but as a product that works for this generation of guitarists, I wouldn't expect anymore

i think the point of that mode is you alter the tone by adjusting the blend of the amps rather than going nuts with each one. IMO it would quickly get bloated and overly drawn out if you had total freedom to adjust everything. It’s also just replicating exactly how Mayer dials his amps and sets things up in the studio - it’s his plugin after all. Nothing stopping you doing your own complex routing with multiple instances if that’s important to you - it just wouldn’t be a John Mayer setup anymore, it would be your own rig.

It’s a novelty/party trick feature, but given it’s done with John’s own gear in his own studio, it’s pretty cool to have on hand.

I think its a great feature. The only weird thing is its completely siloed from the individual amps. I thought you could adjust the individual amps on their own UIs, then "switch over" to the triple amp and blend from there. Thats actually not the case. Changes made on the individual amp screens have no effect on the triple amp screen.

As you said, this is likely just the way John wanted it. But it would have been cool if it functioned this way. Still though, this plugin is damn good.
