Putting yourself out there kinda sucks

Without ever hearing you; I know you got me beat!
HEY!! It's not a competition. :love

You're out there still trying to put stuff together, whereas I lost that ambition some time ago. And the thing is, I know I'd have fun in whatever form it took, even if it was just a weekly "poker night", but I don't have it in me any more.

I enjoy reading about all you guy's bands endeavors though, very much. So keep it going!!

I know! It's been a competition against myself since the day I started playing and somehow, I've always lost :rofl :rofl :rofl

It takes effort and desire to push that I am not sure everyone else (maybe myself included) doesn't have a whole lot of anymore:oops:

I've come to believe it's THE most important thing. I've rubbed elbows with people who aren't particularly smart, yet are very successful, because they're driven!

Heck, Thomas Edison just tried every combination he could think of until he found something that worked, and had what, over 100 patents? While Tesla, who could see the solution to a problem in complex, three-dimentional detail, in his mind..., yet he died alone and penniless.

1000% . The one thing that is consistently within our ability to control is the level of our effort, or lack of.

I was thinking last night, this singer and I will be doing the duo thing while collecting other band members, instead of just being a boring acoustic duo I’m going to put together some backing tracks of mainly percussion/drums/bass, but not so much bass guitar as I want to use that modern sub bass used in hiphop tunes.

I’ve got one of those B52 portable PA systems, it’s like a 15” sub and two 8” satellite speakers, I’m going to treat that like it’s an instrument onstage but just for the backing tracks. I think between the aggressive-for-acoustic vocals between her and I, plus some pretty intense low end, our overall presentation would be fairly unique and hopefully have a good impact.

She’s very enthusiastic, which is a welcomed change for me. I’m used to presenting ideas and having 1-3 other people shoot them down or pick at them until they no longer reflect the initial idea. With her everything has been “I love that!” or “OMG I can’t wait to hear that!”

Less people=less people to have to convince. The thing I have noticed in this modern "everyone is a 'solo artist' " day and age is in addition to not wanting to actually work on things; people are instantly in 'not going to do that' mode. Myself once in a while included :bag It's kind of annoying :hmm:rofl

Can we please spend all of our rehearsal time discussing why this is the case? :idk

hahahaha you’re not wrong about that at all. I’ve definitely had my own “i’m not doing that” things over the years, but have generally been good about not cutting off my nose to spite my face. And if her and I get established a bit, it’ll be a lot easier to bring other players in and have them assimilate, rather than coming in to try dictating how shit will work (kinda like this forum!)
