Plugin Piracy Thread

When someone that understands what the 11R is and that has a paid update that's known to be no longer for sale anywhere suggests me getting the software (because in context that was the thing we were talking about) from a third party, what would you imagine?

Except that no one suggested you to do this. What I suggested is buy an updated unit (and try to sell your old one to recover part of the cost.)

Sometimes when dealing with old digital gear, that is not longer supported, that's the solution. A few months ago, I had to buy another Lexicon LXP-5 for my practice room PA because my old one failed and the part I needed was no longer available. Not for a moment I thought "oh that's not fair, I might as well just steal one". You seem to think that since your issue is software related, it's different.
It's not different.

You think you're offering nuance.

You're not.

You're muddying the waters and deflecting.

I've given you plenty of arguments. You've not contended with a single one of them.

I do not agree that cracking the Eleven Rack firmware update is morally justified.

You keep saying I'm muddying the waters. But you're the one saying I'm somehow using this exception to prove a rule, which is false. I have said it many times I'm against piracy. And even if you can't quote me defending it or argue that I'm pro piracy for something I've said, you just keep repeating this. Why?

It would be only the same case if my 11R broke and I stole another one. I would not do that.

Why are you so focused on this one off situation that is irrelevant to the discussion? Can we agree that nobody gives a fuck if you download old cracked software that is no longer even available, and that it has nothing to do with using cracked plugins?

Hey guys, I’ve got a Windows XP machine that won’t install the current version of Illustrator. Should I A. pirate a copy from 2005, or B. enter the 2020’s by buying a new laptop?
switch to linux and use Inkscape

I've already explained the relation to the topic at hand. The focusing part is not really me, it's me responding the people somehow making the wild claim that it somehow makes me support piracy.

Just read the past few posts and you'll find a few that seem to think it's exactly the same thing.

Okay fine. You're not pro piracy.

What you want to talk about isn't the point of this thread. You should create your own. I'm sure it will be a fun time for you. Now we can get back to the point of the thread and you can kindly bow out?

Not quite the example I gave...

Adobe stole from me...
1) A working Illustrator version I paid for that they could easily have kept online, IMO (it did not have server interaction, AFAIK)
2) They kinda steal my money cos ideally I have to buy a plugin update to be able to work again
3) They steal my credibility as one of the major A(dobe)-holes there denies what happened to me...
4) They continually and majorly steal everyone's time by hardly fixing bugs.
5) Instead they are dumbing everything down so everyone can be lured into subbing while pros are left in the cold...

When I was still on the forums 3 years ago I saw plenty raging people all the time.

YEAP -- at this point I will advise everyone to steal from Adobe as much as they can!

“Woe is me, I’m a victim” is all I get from that.
