Strymon Nightsky plugin

@MirrorProfiles the plugin design really baffles me. I had a lot of the same complaints when the DiG plugin came out. Somehow they've managed to make the preset browser even worse on this.

Sounds are great but it feels like they put the bare minimum in to get it running. For a company that does hardware so well their software (including Nixie) is not that great to use.

All roads lead to Fractal™
Y'know, I was really really hoping this would be the case. But it just kind of ... isn't??

For example - very often I prefer my Source Audio Nemesis for analog delay sounds... and very often I find the Boss DD-500 just kinda cuts through in a band context in a way that I can't get the VP4 to do so ... and this is just with a big standard digital delay... another area ... but I cannot get any of the reverbs to be as bright and brash as the RV-5 is, regardless of how much EQ i utilise.

Now I'm no thicko, and I know sound design like the back of my hand at this point .... but I cannot really explain this. Gears just be different.

I will say though, I'm just being pernickity. The Fractal effects are top notch and every bit as good. I just have subjective requirements that I can't quite nail as well, or as quick.

@MirrorProfiles mentioned an H3000 plugin. That got me thinking about an 80’s/90’s rack type setup but inside the DAW and with parallel effects. Like SDE, Eventide, Lexicon. I’m very new to operating a DAW (I have Logic) and I’m guessing it’s sending the dry signal out to a few buses? @2112 maybe you could make a video? 🙏 😃

Oh I just found this. Might be the ticket.

Sorry for OT.

I totally get that. The VP should be more than enough for 99 percent of players. To me, I just like pedals, I like pedalboards, I like the artwork, the uniqueness, the tactile aspect of turning knobs.

That's kinda why I want to do a board around the AM4, but with a DD/RV-200. I think they sound great, and there's something to having knobs for delay and reverb at the ready.
