Plugin Piracy Thread

C is not literally A. B is literally A.

Yes, it is not exact the same - and yet it's not morally 100% different. One can make a pack (and already have) of every JM preset on the plugin and make them available freely - apparently some here think that's perfectly fine. Do you? I don't.

I think it’s fine to make a copy of a sound of an amp.

@paisleywookiee @ian_dissonance @LP59 @texhex seem to fully agree unless I missed something.

In this case I didn't even mentioned trial period. I also don't think it's ok to share clones of the sounds of a paid plugin even if you own it. But I guess some are ok with it because "it's different" and also because it's approved by their social group. Again, no real moral consideration, just convenience and herd mentality in play.

So no one then or you'd have quoted it. Honestly this thread was about people paying for plugins, that's all.
You land in with a completely different conversation about equating profiling and theft, a conversation none of us were having. Your point becomes more niche and when I asked you to quote the people who agreed with your niche point you can't.

Seriously, either quote the people who said it's fine to clone a plugin but stealing a plugin is bad or STFU.

I’ll go on record that I’m fine “Profiling/Capturing/NAMing” a Plugin. You aren’t getting the full functionality of the software.

Pirating the Plugin is completely different as you are literally stealing software. DUH!
This. and anyone who has ever owned an amp or amp modelling software should have no difficulty understanding it

The fact someone haven't said it word for word, doesn't mean that's not what they mean. Hard concept to grasp, I know. When they all keep saying you can't copyright sound, that pretty much unavoidably includes plugins. @paisleywookiee said it was not what he meant, fair enough.

A couple of people showed up flat out agreeing with that.

Frankly it's weird how people get comfortable with talking like this on the internet. I'm pretty certain you don't talk to anyone like that face to face.

I do. I do talk like this in person, and I'd tell you that this is at this point an absolutely annoying conversation.

You’re right, in real life I would have just walked away after the first goofy ass “what about” you tossed out. I feel like in real life you probably would have tried to follow me, lol.

Eh. Useful conversations can be disagreements, without being exhausting and annoying.

It's like benching but stopping having 5 in the tank. That's not effort.

Nah, we'd be fine most likely. Live I can be annoying and endearing at the same time. It's my gift.

Argh... but the real question be:

what kind of music do pirates make with all these cracks?

They mostly just fill their hard drives so they can have all the options, but never use them. They spend more time scrolling warez sites and messing around trying to get cracks to work than actually using any of it. A mate of mine does this and spends so much time trying different cracked daws and plugins he never actually properly learns any of them.
