So what’s the genesis of that thread? Is there something I’m missing just laying around somewhere?

Didn't Line 6 just drop an ODR1 model?

Moreover, Fender's TMP contains a Nobels ODR-1BC. I suspect that may have been the one in Cliff's graphs. 🕵️‍♂️

Assuming that my Wampler Belle is accurate enough in its character, the ODR has been my favourite real life analogue drive so far (caveat: I'm not really into drives all that much and have only ever used about 10 different kinds in my entire life). (y)

I assume that the real pedals used in the comparisons are the reference pedals for the Axe models and not just another random pedal of the same type?

If so, it would be interesting to see the graphs for the "a.n.other modeller" in comparison to the reference pedals used to create its models.

Also, given that we know that not all potentiometers are created equal, even if they are the exact same type, I don't think "all knobs at noon" is particularly revealing either!

As Copernicus famously said after developing the heliocentric model of our planetary system:
Competition is good for the consumer.

One minor gripe could be--Why was this request seemingly ignored for so long, only to be acknowledged so quickly after a competitor added this model? (Edit: Two competitors; forgot about Fender.)

Regardless, I love watching all these modeling manufacturers try to one-up each other, whether that's in the UI, the included models, the usability, etc. Since I own a couple modelers, it's nice to reap the benefits of the battle.

I've never played an actual ODR-1, but the Helix one feels and sounds good to me. I like that it can do a mild od sound kinda similar to a TS but then go full on and sound fat like a tube driver.

Feedbacker incoming! :)

Although didn't Cliff resist adding a Klon for about a century or two? ;)

He did, but he was doing that on principal basically suggesting that you can roll your own in a Fractal easily. Same with the Feedbacker, if you want one it's not hard to program it using the synth or pitch block.

Well...one thing seems certain. If any company models really any piece of gear missing in he the Fractal universe, it will likely show up pretty quickly.

Certain? Look at the list of models in the helix and compare it to fractal. The variety of models in helix is substantially more than what’s in fractal and has been for a long time. It’s one of the few drawbacks of the fractalverse. He may choose to try and change that or not, but historically he hasn’t been in the game of chasing other modelers’ model lists. I’ve admired that he has his own vision and isn’t just chasing his competitors.
