NMD: Axe-Fx III MK II Turbo (J.F)

My dad may have had a tendency to have a beer in one hand, steering wheel in the other hand at all times when driving. This was before the big DUI crackdowns. At least once, we ended up driving through a t-intersection and ending up in a farm field. Of course, I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, because nobody wore them back then. Pretty sure we were in one of the Pintos. Like I said, I'm lucky to be alive.

Replace “beer” with “cell phone” and things haven’t really changed.

LOL. My dad put me on his lap and gave me the wheel when I was... trying to remember... maybe 9 years old?

Ahh... the 1970s. Might as well have been another planet.

Literally just told our assistant this morning that growing up in Maine, most of us were learning how to drive on backroads before we were ten.

For me that was “When I tell you to give it some gas, give it so… GIVE IT SOME GAS! TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE FUCKING CLUTCH STEP ON THE FUCKING PEDAL NOT THAT ONE THE OTHER ONE JESUS CHRIST DO I NEED TO WAIT UNTIL YOU’RE 9 FOR THIS?!?!”

When I went to my first "driving instruction" class (required to get a license, 4 students and one instructor in the car), I drove for about a minute before the instructor said "OK, we are going to let the others learn how to drive". I had already been driving for a couple of years and he could tell I needed no instruction! I think I spent a total of about 10 minutes behind the wheel in that 10 hours of classes! It was fun to watch the others learn and the mistakes they would make though ;~))

Best part for me though about learning to drive was, there were some HUGE parking lots in my area that went unused most of the year, and we would go to those lots in winter and just go nuts spinning and racing in the snow learning how to control the cars in slippery conditions! Sooooooo much fun and glad we never wrecked on of our parents cars ;~)) We did it once in the summer, but gave up quickly as none of our parents cars had the power to make it fun on dry surfaces!!!

For me, it was, "GET OVER!!! GET OVER!!!!! Why are you gripping the wheel so tight? GET OVER!!!"

I even measured my own cab impedance so I can enter the actual resonance frequency value into the Speaker tab when using the AxeFx with a SS power amp.
It oommmmmphs just like a tube amp now, well, I didn't expect otherwise.

I thought that would be the way to do it, simply to enter values to that page, but I learned recently that, for accurate response, Cliff has to have them programmed internally (you can send him your measurements and ask if he'll include the curve in an upcoming release), because apparently the same curve will populate different values for different amp models.

If you take a look at the two posts I'm responding to in this comment, you'll see the discussion here:

A James Freeman curve would be SIC

I watched the “comparison” part of this clip 3 times thinking “wtf, where’s the a/b, Leon?”

I think this is the first a/b I’ve listened to with a real amp and modeler where I truly could not tell where they were being switched. Damn.

First time I watched it I was reading and half-listening, I remember him playing, looking up and thinking “When is he gonna switch? Ohhhh, no shit!”
