NMD: Axe-Fx III MK II Turbo (J.F)

You'll understand when you use it.
This switch will be a blessing for amp builders and people who actually have a NFB pot in their amp and expect Fractal models to behave like that.

Now, everyone who does not understand what NFB is, please stop gatekeeping. TYVM.

Yes. :)
When comparing apples to apples it's not light years ahead of other good modelers like many people like to believe, but the sheer variety of amps and advanced settings allow to sculpt far more tones and tweak for days on end.
Is that comparing only the sounds or also the feel and responsiveness?

The last modeler I used before Fractal (which I've used for 10+ years now) was a Johnson Millennium modeling amp many, many years before... But the feel of the Fractal modeling is (to me) the same as a tube amp, and this is an area where I have read others fall flat.

LOL at everyone trying to tell Freeman how he should be using his AxeFX 😂

“TELL US ALL IT SOUNDS GREAT BECAUSE I NEED SOME KIND OF EXTERNAL VALIDATION ON MY MODELLER”

Getting good sounds and having fun is possible with any modeller out there. Learning how to use it and getting the most out of it is part of the fun for some people. I’m sure he’s loving it and delivering what he expected from it.

Please stop assuming that anyone who points out a flaw in your reasoning is “gatekeeping”.

Ok, ok, now I see what’s going on here.

James is using the Axe-FX to test the accuracy of his own homebuilt amps. :rofl

I’m sincerely trying to grok how it would be useful, not “gatekeeping” I understand what NFB is, but I’m not an amp builder. If you’re comparing it to a real amp, do you know what arbitrary values of the NFB control in the Axe would correspond to in a real amp?

Nah, I was selflessly thinking about millions (if not billions) of amp lovers who use a real NFB control then use the Fractal NFB parameter and go "eh?".
I totally get where you’re coming from. I’d be remiss not to cite a recent published study, though, called:

Helix Brit 2203 Low Channel Level Drop Causes User Consternation; Real Behavior Logged as Bug by Model Creator. [2023]

I understand what it is, and I don’t want the volume to change when I adjust it like it would on a real amp. Just like I prefer the amp models volume not to change much when I adjust the master volume control on a modeler. It’s a modeler, if I raise or lower the master all I’m trying to do is change the response of the power amp, not actually turn the model up or down in volume - we have output volume controls for that.

Since you’re asking me to quit gatekeeping, I’ll ask you to quit wasting cliffs time adding the bad parts of real amps into a modeler when he’s trying to help us by giving us more useful behavior. His time is limited, let’s focus it on cool toys instead….

In case it isn’t coming through, I’m just sharing a different POV not looking to argue.
:beer

Although Fractal doesn't do that ;)
