Traded in a ‘22 R9 I recently got that I wasn’t quite jiving with.
Drove to CME today to trade the R9 in and scope out some LPs. I had seen a few nice ones online but gotta see them in person to really know.
Tried a half dozen. Truthfully I kinda wanted another Murphy so focus on a few of those and a couple VOS too for good measure. Did try a $12K Ultra Heavy Relic beast (CME spec’d Factory Burst with double whites). Nice but in no way justifiable. But fun to play!
This is the one that spoke to me. I guess I gravitate towards the more faded finishes. And with the uncovered pickups it set it apart a bit.
Turns out to be one based on BOTB page 153. Nothing famous or even noteworthy. Kinda neat but wasn’t the selling point. No crazy flame and celebrity ownership. It’s one of those half page ones without even a serial # lol. In a way I kinda dig it for that. Like an ugly duckling.
Full ‘58 neck but not crazy baseball bat like another R8 I tried. Decently light for such a substantial neck at 8.5 lbs.
Just overall super thick and sustainy sounding Paul. It’s the one I just kept playing and lost track of time until the rep came and asked how things were going.
