Pretty stoked about this one, have had a hole in my guitar existence, lmao, since I've never owned a goldtop!
Saw this one last week, and fought and fought, but couldn't resist. Partially to make up for the EC-1000 I traded a long time ago as well (it was a gawdy AF "see through black cherry" with overdone binding everywhere) . I do have a love/hate relationship with TOM's, but the carve is minor and I'm doing pretty well playing it so far.
This is ESP's 50th anniversary guitar, I think 200 made - has a 50th inlay @ 12th fret and "1975 - 2025" on the headstock. My 1st supreme-o collectors guitar, lmao. NOT.
She looks damn nice with the metallic gold finish, plays great, not too heavy. Has an ESP specific Seymour Duncan "Custom 14" in the bridge (don't ask me the difference from a regular Custom, this shit is proprietary knowledge) and an SD APH-1 in the neck. Stainless XJ frets, ebony board, pull-tone for single coil and locking tuners. Got it for $400 off the $1500 list, so that helped a lot.
QC is pretty good, a couple of fret ends could use a very little bit of attention and they could've been a little neater with the end of the fretboard past the 24th. Think this is my 3rd LTD and this one is pretty similar to the other two, QC wise, all of which have been Korean made.
I thought it had a wolf tone problem, in fact originally thought it was two of them, but the one has seemingly solved itself somehow? Remaining one is the high E @ 17th fret, but now I've realized it's something with my 2x12, as I'm hearing it with some other guitars but not through my studio monitors! Drove me crazy at 1st, never noticed it before! Only noticeable with the neck pickup of SOME guitars. Anybody run into that before?
